Requirements
  • Six months of registered nurse experience is required.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is preferred.
  • One year of intensive care unit, critical care, or emergency department experience with adult and/or pediatric populations is preferred.
  • A Wisconsin registered nurse license or a license from a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact is required upon hire.
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification is required upon hire.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification is required within six months.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification is required within six months.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course certification is preferred.
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course certification is preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Work evening and night shifts of 8 or 12 hours, with a weekend and holiday rotation; hours may vary based on department operational needs.
  • Provide nursing care in the Pediatric Emergency Department at University Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.
  • Care for critically ill or injured adult and pediatric patients, including patients in trauma and resuscitation settings.
  • Participate in the department's intake and patient-care processes, including the CareSTART area during peak times.
