Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent GED is required.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist certification is required.
  • Completion of an accredited program and certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting is required.
Responsibilities
  • Open sterile supplies and set up for each procedure.
  • Perform medical assisting duties, including taking vital signs, height and weight, and assisting during excisions and surgical procedures.
  • Ensure that all patient care areas are clean, organized, stocked, and ready for patient use daily.
  • Assist the surgeon during procedures according to prescribed standards and anticipate the surgeon's needs.
  • Take appropriate photographs of patients as directed by the surgeon for pre- and post-procedure documentation.
  • Sterilize and package instruments in accordance with industry standards.
  • Communicate with patients, teammates, and the general public by phone and in person.
  • Document in the electronic medical record as needed.
  • Assist with inventory and storage of equipment and supplies.
  • Provide demonstrated competency when supervisory agreement is in place.
  • Assist with Occupational Safety and Health Administration daily and monthly checks and correctly maintain the Occupational Safety and Health Administration log.
  • Complete suture inventory and check rooms for expiring inventory.
  • Provide cross-coverage when needed.
  • Travel to brand or regional practice locations to provide clinical coverage when needed, including coverage for clinician vacations, sick calls, and paid time off.
  • Carry out applicable policies, procedures, established industry standards, laws, and regulations, including privacy and data protection practices, workplace safety, and reporting suspected noncompliant behavior.
  • Complete all assigned required training by the deadline, including the Code of Conduct, Privacy and Data Security, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration training.
Desired Qualifications
  • BLS certification is preferred.
  • Plastic surgery experience is preferred.
