- Current authorization from the Virginia Board of Nursing and Virginia Board of Medicine and Nursing to practice independently as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority.
- Current Drug Enforcement Administration registration.
- Experience working in an outpatient mental health practice and providing telehealth to clients with varied mental health needs.
- Experience collaborating with other professionals to support best practices.
- Skill using technology, software, and resources for daily medical responsibilities.
- Experience documenting in medical records and communicating with patients and others about clinical or administrative concerns.
- Assess patients' need for medication, prescribe medication, manage and monitor medication, record client progress, and educate patients and families as needed.
- Examine, evaluate, diagnose, and treat psychiatric and mental illnesses.
- Complete intake assessments for new clients.
- Complete progress notes in the electronic health record for every session.
- Send prescriptions electronically to pharmacies.
- Monitor psychiatric stability.
- Request laboratory tests when needed.
- Monitor clients' medical needs and make appropriate referrals for in-person assessment.
- Collaborate with therapists as appropriate.
- Communicate with the administrative team to support smooth and timely client care.
