Requirements
  • A doctoral, master's, or bachelor's degree from an accredited physical therapy program, or a physical therapy certificate.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent is required upon hire or within 30 days of hire.
  • A current Physical Therapist license in Pennsylvania or New Jersey, based on work location, is required.
  • Successful completion of required affiliations is required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a physical therapist in an outpatient setting is required.
  • CPR certification is required.
  • Ability to sit for up to 90 minutes at a time and stand for 30 to 45 minutes consecutively.
  • Ability to manipulate machine dials using the hands and fingers.
  • Ability to occasionally stoop, bend, squat, crouch, kneel, and reach above shoulder level.
  • Ability to lift, move, push, and pull patients weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform tactile sensation, hearing, and visual functions required for patient care.
Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive initial evaluations to identify functional deficits and develop treatment plans to improve mobility, reduce or manage pain, restore function, and prevent disability.
  • Provide skilled interventions tailored to patient needs and preferences using appropriate techniques, modalities, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with patients to create short- and long-term goals.
  • Communicate with patients, families, and health care providers while ensuring informed consent, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Manage patients through direct or indirect treatment or referral to another provider as appropriate.
  • Establish and update diagnoses, prognoses, and plans of care based on available evidence and clinical reasoning.
  • Review and record medical-record information, including evaluation findings, treatment plans, treatment responses, and changes in patient status.
  • Educate patients and family members about prognoses and care options.
  • Assist in developing and implementing department programs.
  • Participate in quality-improvement initiatives, continuing education, professional development, and multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, outcomes, and satisfaction with services.
  • Share clinical knowledge and new techniques to improve patient care.
  • Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants, Physical Therapy students, and observers as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality and properly release information in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Comply with network and departmental policies concerning employee, patient, and environmental safety, attendance, dress code, and reporting.
  • Adhere to ethical, legal, regulatory, and physical therapy professional standards.
  • Demonstrate performance improvement in clinical care, customer service, operational processes, and safety.
  • Use organizational resources effectively and efficiently.
  • Attend designated or requested meetings.
  • Accurately bill patient accounts for services rendered.
  • Provide in-service education to physical therapy department staff and others.
  • Participate in quality-improvement data collection and planning.
  • Clean and order supplies as assigned for daily operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, including peer record review.
