Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Some recent food service experience is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate and implement management direction.
  • Ability to lift 10 to 25 pounds.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours in a seven-day-a-week operation.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare, display, and serve hot and cold ingredients and food items in a safe and sanitary manner.
  • Serve and restock food, beverages, condiments, dishes, and other items.
  • Complete required logs and charts, and date and label all foods, ingredients, and leftovers.
  • Clean, sanitize, and store pots, pans, utensils, and other equipment; receive soiled dishes, glasses, silverware, racks, utensils, and other equipment.
  • Keep work, storage, and surface areas neat and free of debris, and continuously clean and sanitize them.
  • Assist with maintenance of other areas in dining halls by dusting woodwork and sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping all areas.
  • Follow all Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) procedures and other monitoring methods when handling, preparing, serving, and storing foods and chemicals.
  • Follow batch cooking techniques through all stages of preparation and follow standardized recipes.
  • Contribute information to Cook I and Chef regarding accurate completion of production sheets.
  • Maintain quality assurance standards for appearance, temperature, texture, and taste.
  • Communicate with Unit Leader I and Food Service Workers regarding production and the amount of food available on the serving line.
  • Label, date, cover, and properly store leftovers.
  • Maintain clean-as-you-go standards and ensure the work area is clean and sanitized during and at the end of the shift.
  • Attend mandatory ongoing training when offered.
