Requirements
  • A high school diploma and a minimum of five years of relevant experience in quality or product assurance are required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and analytical skills are required.
  • Knowledge of measurement instruments including calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, gages, and other devices required for the job is required.
  • Knowledge of team concepts and manufacturing systems for pursuing cross-functional improvement processes is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of workflow processing is required.
  • The ability to work independently to solve problems and assist with projects is required.
  • Project planning, needs assessment, business process and system design, Total Quality Management, multiple-project management, and team facilitation skills are required.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform lifting, sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and hand and arm movements is required.
  • Peripheral vision and depth perception are required.
  • The ability to read, write, and speak English, along with strong mathematical and mechanical aptitude, is required.
  • The employee must work throughout the plant, including air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned areas, and may work around machinery and use machine and hand tools in hazardous, noisy, and dusty conditions.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate quality assurance through employee and customer training and interfacing.
  • Maintain the quality system and ensure products meet customer specifications and continued compliance.
  • Maintain company quality-system documents and perform incoming receiving inspections and quality-inspector duties as needed.
  • Supervise the Quality Department and directly supervise fewer than eight employees.
  • Lead, facilitate, and participate in quality-improvement teams focused on defect prevention.
  • Ensure raw materials, produced products, and contract-manufactured products conform to quality standards.
  • Provide production support and recommendations on required in-process adjustments.
  • Serve as backup ISO Management Representative and ensure continued ISO certification.
  • Manage departmental documentation and maintain document security, storage, retrieval, revision, and destruction of obsolete documents.
  • Serve as a primary customer contact and work with customers and suppliers on quality assurance and quality-improvement programs.
  • Coordinate quality-improvement teams that recommend modifications to product specifications, process equipment, and control equipment.
  • Provide leadership, direction, management, advice, counsel, and training to Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement personnel.
  • Coordinate Quality Assurance staff workflow for timely processing of materials and information.
  • Assemble or direct information for reports and review generated data for Quality System suitability.
  • Complete projects assigned by the Quality Manager.
  • Prepare and manage the budget and participate in strategic planning.
  • Foster team cooperation and development and educate personnel in quality philosophy, practices, and improvement strategies.
  • Provide technical support for Engineering.
  • Develop, implement, and manage ISO Quality System requirements.
  • Coordinate effective workflow between departments.
  • Review, observe, and audit quality-affecting activities and manage the internal audit process.
  • Work with self-directed teams to facilitate human-resource and process management.
  • Implement 8D corrective actions.
  • Create visual standard work instructions for machine operators and help train new operators.
  • Help develop understandable workmanship standards and visual aids.
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports requested by the Quality Director.
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships with employees, customers, contractors, owners, and suppliers.
  • Promote visual manufacturing.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
