Corsair has completed its acquisition of sim racing specialist Fanatec, despite owner Endor AG filing for insolvency in July. CEO Andy Paul acknowledged the company faces significant challenges, including customer service issues, manufacturing delays, and outstanding debts. Paul told The Drive that Corsair will implement 24/7 global customer service within months, addressing complaints about Fanatec's limited eight-hour support windows. The company also plans to overhaul Fanatec's manufacturing process, which caused months-long delays despite Chinese factories operating below capacity. Corsair intends to leverage its larger supply chain infrastructure and retail presence to improve product availability. Lower-priced items may appear in mainstream retail stores, whilst premium products will remain direct-to-consumer or through specialised retailers. Paul emphasised the transition won't maintain the status quo, stating business currently isn't where they'd like it to be.
G.Skill unveils Trident Z5 DDR5-6600. Published on 31/08/2026 - By Harpe Dalton G.Skill has announced its Trident Z5 DDR5-6600 32GB (2x16GB) memory kits, surpassing Corsair's recent DDR5-6400 RAM sticks announcement and casting those into the shade. The new kits, part of G.Skill's Trident Z5 range, are validated at an extreme speed and low latency of DDR5-6600 CL36-36-36-76, pushing the boundaries of what's currently achievable with consumer desktop PC platforms that support DDR5. Setting the bar high in performance. G.Skill's Trident Z5 DDR5-6600 kits are crafted using high-performance Samsung DDR5 ICs, selected and validated to create matched sets. This meticulous process, a signature of G.Skill's memory kits, ensures that each kit delivers exceptional performance out of the box, making them an attractive choice for gamers, enthusiasts, and overclockers. In contrast, many competitors have been shipping DDR5 memory with looser timings of CL40-40-40 and lower headline data transfer rates, often around DDR5-6000 to DDR5-6200. G.Skill's announcement, therefore, not only challenges these rivals in terms of data transfer rates but also demonstrates a commitment to maintaining low latency, which is key for optimal system performance in applications that heavily utilize memory, such as gaming and content creation. Design and upcoming variants. Currently, only the headlining Trident Z5 DDR5-6600 32GB kit has been announced, but G.Skill has teased an upcoming Trident Z5 RGB series that will add a touch of personalization to the kits. The RGB series will feature a smooth lighting RGB bar along the top of the modules, allowing users to customize the aesthetics of their systems. For those who prefer a more understated look, non-RGB LED models will be available with a sleek piano black top bar, maintaining the Trident Z5's signature style. G.Skill's Trident Z5 family is designed to be future-proof, with the initial announcement focusing on the 32GB (2x16GB) configuration to cater to the current market trend. However, as consumer desktop PC platforms that support DDR5 continue to evolve, G.Skill is expected to expand the Trident Z5 range to include other capacities, ensuring that there's a kit to suit every need. As CQ Internet approach the launch of the first consumer desktop PC platforms that support DDR5, the competition among memory manufacturers is intensifying. G.Skill's announcement of DDR5-6600 CL36-36-36-76 32GB (2x16GB) memory kits sets a high bar for performance, but the ultimate impact of these kits on the market will depend on pricing and availability. With expectations of up to a 50% premium on the same capacity DDR4 memory, the Trident Z5 kits are poised to command a significant price point, reflecting their exceptional performance and craftsmanship.
