Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution, with eligibility for an appropriate certification examination; or an associate degree in laboratory science, chemical or biological science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution and certification as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or Clinical Laboratory Scientist; or graduation from a military program in health science, biology, chemical science, physical science, or medical technology with the stated certification; or grandfathered Medical Technologist qualification obtained on or before February 28, 1992 with current certification.
  • Certification must be issued by an acceptable agency: ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, or HHS (HEW).
  • One year of experience in a clinical laboratory is required.
  • Ability to implement and perform clinical laboratory procedures according to proper standards and regulations.
  • Must submit to a color-acuity screening test.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and monitor test systems.
  • Perform and interpret laboratory tests for the diagnosis and care of neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
