About the company

Citian builds software for public-sector transportation agencies to improve safety and mobility through data-driven insights. Its cloud-based SaaS platform collects and analyzes roadway data, delivering dashboards and reports that help transportation leaders understand traffic patterns, incidents, and asset performance. Unlike more general analytics tools, Citian focuses on the needs of government transportation managers and delivers tailored insights to support decision-making. The company aims to save lives and optimize transportation management by providing clear, actionable data to road planners and operators.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Citian named Oklahoma Highway Safety Office as a client in August 2026.
  • Its 2026 posts show active presence at ATSIP, NASTO, NACTO, and AASHTO.
  • Citian cites 84% of MPO planners lacking predictive crash modeling, a direct pain point.

What critics are saying

  • Citian depends on SS4A and federal safety budgets, exposing revenue to Washington delays.
  • Only Oklahoma Highway Safety Office is publicly named, signaling narrow customer concentration.
  • If agencies keep spreadsheets and consultants, Citian becomes a nice-to-have, not infrastructure.

What makes Citian unique

  • Citian sells proactive roadway safety planning built for defensible crash analyses.
  • Its platform targets SS4A action plans and decades of crash history reconciliation.
  • Citian positions data quality as a product advantage through repeatable safety workflows.
