About the job
- At least three years of experience as a fireman or equivalent in a boiler or heating plant.
- Complete familiarity with all types of plant equipment and its operation.
- Ability to understand maintenance and operational manuals.
- Institutional experience.
- A Certificate of Fitness.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Operate and maintain boiler heating plants and related equipment under general supervision.
- On low-pressure boilers or small-capacity boilers, work as shift charge or watch.
- Assist the stationary engineer in operating and maintaining high- and/or low-pressure boilers, related pumps, blowers, tanks, auxiliary generators, HVAC equipment, sump pumps, and other plant equipment.
- Help the stationary engineer with installation, replacement, and improvement work in the boiler plant as directed.
- Help the stationary engineer maintain the plant operation log for the shift and note unusual problems or conditions for the duty stationary engineer.
- Serve on the hospital's Fire Response team.
- Participate in hospital emergency and fire drills, performance and quality improvement, and other required activities.
- Healthcare experience.
