- Must possess and maintain a license to practice as a Speech Language Pathologist in the State of Maryland.
- A Certificate of Clinical Competence granted by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association is required.
- Must possess and maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.
- A Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology, with related clinical requirements, is required.
- Completion of the Clinical Fellowship Year in Speech-Language Pathology with experience in augmentative and alternative communication is required.
- Provide parent training and therapy programs focused on resolving an identified condition or diminishing its functional impact, using clear and measurable goals and incorporating child and family needs, interests, abilities, and perspective.
- Provide home-based, center-based, and/or telehealth functional communication, oral motor, and feeding assessments to determine the presence and degree of conditions.
- Initiate and maintain contact with referral sources and Institute and community providers to coordinate services and foster productive community relationships.
- Meet assigned revenue goals and complete written documentation related to patient care in accordance with Institute, departmental, Joint Commission, CARF, and ASHA guidelines.
- Participate in intra- and interdisciplinary patient-care activities, including team conferences, and professional training activities.
- Participate in departmental and community outreach activities, including presentations and committee service.
- Previous experience with developmental disabilities and pediatric evaluation and treatment is preferred.
- Experience coordinating community services is preferred.
Kennedy Krieger Institute is a non-profit affiliated with Johns Hopkins that supports children and young adults with developmental disabilities and disorders of the brain, spinal cord, or musculoskeletal system through patient care, education, research, and professional training. It uses an interdisciplinary treatment approach where multiple specialists work together to create individualized plans, offering neurobehavioral, rehabilitation, and pediatric feeding disorders inpatient units as well as more than 55 outpatient clinics and several home, community, and school programs. It differs from many providers by pairing medical care with education and community services under one umbrella, strengthened by its Johns Hopkins link and coordinated, team-based care across inpatient, outpatient, and school settings. The goal is to improve quality of life for these individuals through comprehensive, coordinated care, education, research, and training.
