- Associate degree, bachelor's degree, military education, participation in the formal GE HealthCare Biomedical or Field Engineer Services Internship, Apprenticeship or Military Externship program; or a high school diploma or GED with at least two years of experience servicing electrical, electronics, information technology or mechanical equipment.
- Valid driver's license.
- Availability for after-hours work and/or a rotating on-call schedule, including weekends.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 pounds unassisted and frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch or squat, kneel or crawl, sit and stand for long periods.
- Ability to reach above and below shoulder level, flex or extend the neck, and use good hand and finger dexterity.
- Specific vision abilities may include color, close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
- Evaluate basic customer biomedical equipment issues under supervision and implement appropriate repairs.
- Perform preventive maintenance and safety/environmental inspections as assigned.
- Assist experienced technicians with basic and complex repairs and resolutions.
- Communicate and partner with teammates and colleagues.
- Follow GE policies, procedures, hospital protocols, and complete necessary documentation.
- Maintain daily customer communications to ensure resolution and proper follow-up.
- Implement GE and customer facility contracts as instructed and support business goals and objectives.
- Work as part of the local team to provide efficient service delivery to all assigned accounts.
- Share on-call responsibility when trained.
- Document repair actions and submit reports or summaries according to schedule.
- Care for spares, tools, and test equipment and ensure equipment calibration.
- Maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes, and procedures for the safe and effective use of medical equipment.
- Use manuals, technical support, the FaceTime app, and online resources to answer questions while performing preventive maintenance.
- Meet Health and Human Services, Environmental Health and Safety, and other applicable regulatory requirements.

GE HealthCare has launched CareIntellect for Operations, an AI-powered software application that helps health systems forecast capacity constraints up to 72 hours ahead. The solution analyses hundreds of patient and operational data points to predict bottlenecks and recommend actions to optimise capacity and throughput. The Queen's Health Systems and Duke Health will be the first to implement the application. It uses two proprietary AI models: the Pressure Forecast model, which predicts resource constraints across hospitals and departments, and the Estimated Day of Discharge model, which predicts when patients will be discharged. The tool addresses operational challenges as US inpatient volumes rose 5.3% in 2025, requiring health systems to manage increased demand whilst facing staffing shortages and rising costs.
GE HealthCare has received CE mark approval for its Photonova Spectra photon-counting computed tomography system, enabling commercial sales in markets recognising CE marking. The clearance follows US Food and Drug Administration approval and Japanese regulatory clearance in March 2026. The system uses GE HealthCare's Deep Silicon detector technology to deliver ultra-high definition spectral and spatial imaging. It processes data volumes up to 50 times greater than conventional CT systems, utilising Nvidia's accelerated computing platform. Clinical collaborations are underway at UZ Brussel in Belgium and Rigshospitalet in Denmark to evaluate the system across cardiology, neurology, oncology and musculoskeletal imaging. The CE mark follows more than $5 billion in innovation investment by GE HealthCare.
Vertex Pharmaceuticals has emerged as a standout S&P 500 stock, according to StockStory's analysis. GE HealthCare has introduced three new cardiovascular ultrasound systems to its Vivid portfolio: Vivid Explorer 1, Vivid Advanced 1, and Vivid Focus 1. The systems were unveiled at the European Society of Cardiology Congress 2026 in Munich, Germany. Each system targets different clinical settings whilst sharing a common technology foundation with the ultra-premium Vivid Pioneer. Vivid Explorer is designed for high-volume echo labs, Vivid Advanced for mid-size hospitals and cardiology practices, and Vivid Focus for everyday cardiac imaging. All three systems use cSound imaging technology and include AI-enabled automation tools to streamline echo workflows. The systems have received CE Mark approval but are awaiting US FDA 510(k) clearance and are not yet available for sale in the United States.
GE HealthCare has launched Invenia ABUS Prime and ABUS StreamVue, expanding its breast imaging portfolio with solutions for supplemental screening in women with dense breasts. The Invenia ABUS Prime system has been installed at BeSound in Los Angeles, marking one of the first US installations. ABUS StreamVue is a browser-based reading solution enabling remote exam review across imaging networks. The system received FDA 510(k) clearance and CE Marking. Studies show 40% of women have dense breasts, carrying four to six times higher breast cancer risk. Research indicates mammography may miss one-third of cancers in dense breasts. Invenia ABUS Prime features AI-enabled tools including Scan Quality Assessment and can increase scan speed by up to 40%. The AI Assistant has demonstrated a 33% reduction in reading time.
