National Account Manager
About the job
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.
- Strong customer service skills are required.
- Strong negotiating skills are required.
- Knowledge of the transportation and logistics industry is required.
- Provide daily and weekly contact with client contacts by phone, email, and other methods to solicit opportunities.
- Accept tenders and manage spot opportunities.
- Ensure the day-to-day activities of the assigned team meet customer needs.
- Monitor overall service levels and metrics for assigned customers.
- Guide assigned employees and ensure they receive adequate training and development.
- Work with the Rate Department and Margin Department to develop shipper and carrier rates.
- Participate in customer service account reviews with assigned accounts, including metrics reporting as requested.
- Develop strategies to achieve market share goals for assigned accounts and ensure account profit objectives are satisfied.
- Network within assigned accounts to build relationships with new contacts and identify growth opportunities.
- Work with Capacity Managers to identify lanes requiring carrier recruitment.
- Work with other Account Managers to create packages of lanes that retain carriers within the PLS network.
- Own the relationship and perform necessary tasks to make clients and the division profitable and successful.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
