Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, or Doctor of Philosophy degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field is required.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, simulating, and/or tuning high-power radio-frequency cavities, linac structures, resonant cavities, or comparable systems is required.
  • Strong radio-frequency and electromagnetics fundamentals backed by hands-on design and test experience are required.
  • The ability to own a structure's design end-to-end and identify unresolved problems proactively is required.
  • The ability to work with urgency and deliver practical working solutions under real schedule constraints is required.
  • The ability to find workable solutions when budget, schedule, or fabrication capabilities constrain the textbook approach is required.
  • The ability to make and own design decisions while knowing when to test, measure, or ask first is required.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively in a small engineering team is required.
Responsibilities
  • Design and simulate radio-frequency cavity structures, including radio-frequency quadrupole, drift-tube linac, IH/CH, or similar structures, using electromagnetic codes such as CST, HFSS, Superfish/Poisson, or COMSOL.
  • Drive design decisions involving frequency, geometry, and mode structure while balancing beam dynamics, fabrication, and cost constraints.
  • Lead low-power radio-frequency testing, including bead-pull and field-flatness measurements, and lead high-power conditioning and tuning of fabricated structures.
  • Work with machinists and vendors on tolerances, brazing and welding approaches, and additive-manufacturing options for radio-frequency structures.
  • Troubleshoot multipacting, detuning, and other high-power radio-frequency failure modes.
  • Collaborate with the power-systems engineer and beam physicist to connect cavity design, radio-frequency source requirements, and beam performance.
  • Help establish radio-frequency design and test practices as one of the company's first radio-frequency hires.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with normal-conducting linac structures, specifically radio-frequency quadrupole, drift-tube linac, or IH/CH structures.
  • Superconducting radio-frequency cavity experience.
  • Experience with multipacting analysis, bead-pull measurements, or high-power conditioning.
  • A background at a national laboratory, accelerator facility, or hardware startup.

Tachyon Industrial designs and builds high-energy particle accelerators in the United States to create controlled extreme environments for testing critical electronics. It currently focuses on more powerful, efficient accelerators and the facilities needed to expose devices to high radiation and particle flux for reliability testing. In the long term, it aims to explore novel fuel sources for deep-space missions by connecting accelerator technology to space energy solutions. The team brings experience from SpaceX, SLAC, Brookhaven, and Los Alamos, and it is supported by venture capital firms and advisors from Fermilab, CERN, NASA, and JPL, which helps guide its technical and commercial path.

What believers are saying

  • Tachyon's website updated August 15, 2026, says it is building U.S. particle accelerators.
  • The June 15, 2026 Nixxy LOI valued Tachyon near $1 billion.
  • Backers include Nebular, Adjacent, and Susa, plus advisors from CERN, NASA, and JPL.

What critics are saying

  • On July 30, 2026, Tachyon9 cancelled Nixxy acquisition talks, signaling fragile financing.
  • The June 15, 2026 LOI needed a $75 million PIPE and audited financials.
  • If capital dries up, Tachyon lacks a proven commercial accelerator franchise.

What makes Tachyon Industrial unique

  • Tachyon industrializes particle accelerators for extreme electronics testing, not generic aerospace software.
  • Founders bring SpaceX, SLAC, Brookhaven, and Los Alamos experience.
  • Its Austin and Redwood City footprint targets U.S.-built high-energy hardware.
