Amprius introduces SiCore 500.

Amprius introduces SiCore 500. The second-generation SiCore platform is designed to achieve the same specific energy using existing manufacturing equipment, processes, and cell formats across Amprius' contract manufacturing network. Oct. 19, 2026 FREMONT, Calif. - Amprius Technologies Inc. introduced a silicon-anode lithium-ion battery cell rated at 500 watt-hours per kilogram (Wh/kg) for long-endurance aviation applications. The second-generation SiCore cell delivers the specified energy density at a continuous 1C discharge rate and is designed for production using conventional lithium-ion battery manufacturing equipment. The company said previous cells reaching 500 Wh/kg required specialized materials handling and nonstandard construction. The second-generation SiCore platform is designed to achieve the same specific energy using existing manufacturing equipment, processes, and cell formats across Amprius' contract manufacturing network. The cell targets high-altitude platform stations (HAPS), fixed-wing uncrewed aircraft, and other applications requiring extended flight endurance. Higher cell-level specific energy can reduce battery mass for a given energy capacity or provide more stored energy within a given weight limit, potentially increasing aircraft endurance, range, or payload capacity. Sponsored recommendations. Amprius has supplied batteries to AALTO, an Airbus subsidiary developing solar-electric HAPS aircraft, since 2018. The company's silicon-anode cells powered AALTO's Zephyr aircraft during a 2025 flight that lasted 67 days, 6 hours, and 52 minutes, setting an endurance record for continuous aircraft flight. Zephyr uses solar panels to recharge its batteries during daylight and stored electrical energy to sustain flight overnight. Amprius expects to make the second-generation SiCore cell commercially available in the fourth quarter of 2026. The company plans initial production at its Fremont facility, with volume production expected to expand through existing contract manufacturing partners. Cells are expected to be available in customer-specific configurations and a standard small uncrewed aircraft systems (sUAS) pouch format defined by SAE JA1016. Voice your opinion! U.S. Awards Amprius up to $75 million to expand domestic drone battery production.

U.S. Awards Amprius up to $75 million to expand domestic drone battery production. Federal grant will support conversion of an existing EV battery line to produce high-energy-density cells for Group 1, 2 and 3 drones. Amprius Technologies (NYSE: AMPX) has received a federal grant of up to $75 million to expand U.S. production of batteries for unmanned aerial systems. The award will support the conversion of an existing U.S. electric vehicle battery production line. Amprius plans to use the facility to produce high-energy-density cells for Group 1, 2 and 3 drones. The U.S. Department of War awarded the grant through its Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment program. The program supports domestic manufacturing capabilities considered important to national defense.Amprius says the project aims to establish high-volume U.S. manufacturing for advanced drone batteries. The company plans to reconfigure a production line operated by a major South Korean battery manufacturer in the United States. The companies expect the project to cost about $100 million. That figure includes in-kind investments from Amprius and its manufacturing partner. Building U.S. Capacity for drone batteries. Amprius expects the converted line to have capacity for 12 million cells per year. The company plans to complete the project in early 2028. The cells are intended to meet domestic sourcing requirements under the National Defense Authorization Act: providing a larger domestic source of batteries for defense drone manufacturers. "This DoW grant is intended to establish a primary source of domestic, NDAA-compliant battery production," said Amprius CEO Tom Stepien. "Our technology, combined with the U.S. manufacturing prowess of our South Korean manufacturing partner, positions us to accelerate adoption of standardized, high-performance pouch cells in a fast-growing market." The new capacity will add to Amprius' existing manufacturing network in the United States, South Korea and China. Amprius develops silicon-anode lithium-ion batteries for aviation, defense and mobility applications. The company says its technology can provide higher energy density than conventional graphite-based cells. Earlier this month, Amprius introduced a second-generation SiCore cell designed for long-endurance aviation. The company says that cell reaches 500 Wh/kg while using conventional lithium-ion manufacturing equipment. The latest federal award focuses not only on battery performance, but also on where those batteries can be produced. For U.S. defense drone manufacturers, domestic sourcing requirements have made the location and scale of component production increasingly important. If completed as planned, the converted production line would give Amprius significantly more U.S. capacity to supply high-energy-density pouch cells for small and medium-sized unmanned aircraft. Amprius Technologies, Inc. stock jumps on $75M grant, but overbought signals flash.

Amprius Technologies, Inc. stock jumps on $75M grant, but overbought signals flash. 28 September 2026 Amprius Technologies, Inc. stock is rallying behind a clear catalyst: a $75 million U.S. Department of War defense grant. The funding converts an existing domestic EV facility into drone battery production, giving AMPX a tangible fundamental reason to rally atop an already improving technical picture. Key takeaways. * AMPX closed at $10.85, above both the 20-day EMA ($9.89) and 50-day EMA ($10.68). * The $75 million U.S. Department of War grant will fund conversion of an EV facility into drone battery production. * Daily RSI14 at 60.24 signals firm bullish momentum without overbought extremes. * Hourly RSI14 at 77 and 15-minute RSI14 at 83.83 warn the rally is stretched in the short term. * The 200-day EMA at $12.52 remains the key medium-term ceiling yet to be challenged. Daily structure - recovery testing its ceiling. Amprius Technologies, Inc. stock has shifted from a defensive posture into an active reclaim of near-term trend control. However, the broader daily trend remains capped below the 200-day EMA at $12.52. EMA alignment and trend control. The stock closed at $10.85, comfortably above both the 20-day EMA at $9.89 and the 50-day EMA at $10.68. That alignment tells a clear story: AMPX has shifted from defense into an active reclaim of near-term trend control. Still, the 200-day EMA sits far above at $12.52, meaning the broader daily trend remains technically capped until price can close that gap. Momentum and volatility signals. Momentum on the daily timeframe backs the recovery narrative without screaming exhaustion. RSI14 reads 60.24, firmly bullish but with room before overbought territory. Meanwhile, the MACD line remains negative at -0.13 against a signal of -0.29, yet the histogram has turned positive at 0.16. That combination usually points to an early-stage bullish crossover in the making. Volatility has also expanded notably. Daily ATR14 stands at 0.56, and the close at $10.85 sits above the upper Bollinger Band at $10.48. That stretched daily candle signals a strong directional push rather than an orderly grind higher. The daily pivot at $10.88 sits essentially at the close, with resistance at $11.15 and support at $10.57 marking the next battle lines. 1H timeframe - confirmation with a warning sign. The hourly chart reinforces the bullish case while simultaneously flagging stretched conditions. Price confirms the daily uptrend, but overbought readings suggest the move has run ahead of itself. Price at $10.93 sits well above the hourly EMA stack - 20-period at $9.88, 50-period at $9.74, 200-period at $9.84 - with short-term averages bunched tightly together. That alignment is consistent with an active uptrend. That said, the 50-period and 200-period EMAs sit very close together, signaling the underlying hourly trend is still relatively young. MACD on the 1H is positive at 0.12 against a 0.06 signal, another confirming indicator for near-term strength. At the same time, the hourly RSI14 at 77 is a legitimate overbought reading. Price at $10.93 trades above the 1H upper Bollinger Band of $10.38. That reinforces that the rally has moved quickly - perhaps too quickly for this timeframe to sustain without a pause. In short, the 1H confirms the daily bullish tilt while flagging that the move is stretched and vulnerable to a short-term cooling-off period. 15-Minute execution view - overheated conditions. The 15-minute chart reads outright bullish but also extremely overbought, making it relevant primarily for entry timing rather than trend assessment. RSI14 has climbed to 83.83 - an extreme reading that typically precedes at least a short consolidation or pullback within the broader move. MACD remains positive and the EMA stack - 20 at 9.91, 50 at 9.83, 200 at 9.68 - is cleanly bullish. However, traders watching for entries should respect that a 15-minute RSI above 80 rarely holds without some retracement. A pullback toward the daily pivot at $10.88 or support near $10.57 would not be surprising. The bullish and bearish paths for Amprius Technologies, Inc. stock. The path forward for Amprius Technologies, Inc. stock hinges on whether the defense grant news can translate into a sustained medium-term trend shift rather than a short-lived spike. For the bulls, a sustained close above daily resistance at $11.15, followed by continuation toward the $12.52 200-day EMA, would confirm that the defense grant news has genuinely shifted the medium-term trend. Volume and follow-through in the days ahead will be the key tell. If the daily MACD histogram continues expanding and RSI holds above 50 on pullbacks, the reclaim of trend control gains credibility. On the other hand, the bearish risk centers on the stock's inability to hold above the 50-day EMA at $10.68 or the daily pivot support at $10.57. A rejection there would suggest the rally was primarily a news-driven spike, not a structural trend change. This risk is amplified by the hourly and 15-minute overbought readings finally unwinding. In that scenario, price could revert toward the daily Bollinger midline near $9.69, invalidating the near-term bullish thesis without necessarily threatening the broader recovery attempt. The stock would then need time to rebuild momentum before another test of resistance. Closing take. Amprius Technologies, Inc. stock presents a classic post-catalyst setup with both opportunity and near-term risk. Overall, momentum is strong on the lower timeframes. Daily structure is improving but not yet decisive. Overbought signals are stacked across the 1H and 15-minute charts. Elevated ATR readings suggest volatility will stay high in the sessions ahead. Positioning here should account for the real possibility of a pullback, even within an otherwise constructive trend. Uncertainty remains elevated until price proves it can hold above the daily pivot and eventually challenge the 200-day EMA. Faq. What is driving the rally in Amprius Technologies, Inc. stock? A $75 million defense grant from the U.S. Department of War is the primary catalyst. The funding will convert an existing domestic EV facility into drone battery production, giving AMPX a tangible fundamental reason to rally. What are the key resistance levels for AMPX? The immediate resistance sits at the daily pivot of $11.15. Beyond that, the 200-day EMA at $12.52 represents the key medium-term ceiling that must be overcome to confirm a genuine trend shift. Is Amprius Technologies, Inc. stock overbought? On the daily timeframe, RSI14 at 60.24 is not overbought. However, the 1H RSI14 at 77 and 15-minute RSI14 at 83.83 flag clearly stretched conditions that raise the risk of a short-term pullback or consolidation. Amprius secures $75 million grant for american high-energy density battery production.

Amprius secures $75 million grant for american high-energy density battery production. Amprius Technologies ("Amprius" or the "Company") (NYSE: AMPX), a leader in high-performance batteries, has been awarded a grant of up to $75 million from the U.S. Department of War ("DoW") to retrofit an existing domestic production line from EV batteries to high-energy density cells for unmanned aerial systems. The grant was awarded through the DoW's Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment ("IBAS") program, which funds domestic manufacturing capabilities critical to national defense. The primary objective of this award is to establish high-volume, commercially viable U.S. manufacturing for advanced battery systems that power unmanned aerial systems - Group 1, 2, and 3 drones. Amprius plans to use the funds to reconfigure an existing U.S.-based electric vehicle battery production line operated by a major South Korean manufacturer. At completion, planned for early 2028, the line is expected to have the capacity to produce 12 million Amprius cells annually. These cells are intended to meet the domestic sourcing requirements of the National Defense Authorization Act ("NDAA"). The conversion project is expected to cost approximately $100 million, including in-kind investments from Amprius and its South Korean partner. The modified line expands Amprius' existing contract manufacturing relationships and significantly increases the ability of the Company to provide NDAA-compliant pouch cells for key customers at scale. This project adds to the Company's global manufacturing network in China, South Korea, and the United States. "This DoW grant is intended to establish a primary source of domestic, NDAA-compliant battery production," said Amprius CEO Tom Stepien. "Our technology, combined with the U.S. manufacturing prowess of our South Korean manufacturing partner, positions us to accelerate adoption of standardized, high-performance pouch cells in a fast-growing market."

Amprius Technologies wins up to US$75M grant for domestic battery line.

Amprius Technologies wins up to US$75M grant for domestic battery line. Most of the award remains unfunded as Amprius targets 12 million cells a year from a converted U.S. line by early 2028. Early 2028 is the target for a U.S. line capable of making 12 million battery cells a year, Amprius Technologies, Inc. NYSEAMPX said Monday as it announced a federal grant of up to US$75 million. The proposed conversion would cost about US$100 million, so the award could cover as much as three quarters of that bill if it is funded and paid in full. The U.S. Department of War is the grant counterparty; an unnamed South Korean manufacturer operates the line, and Amprius gave no award term in its Sept. 28 announcement. Amprius shares closed at US$9.75 on Friday, Sept. 25, according to its NYSEAMPX quote page, timed three seconds past 4 p.m. EDT. That close preceded Monday's award announcement, so it does not measure the market's response to the grant. The Sept. 28 release says the money comes through the department's Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment program, which supports manufacturing capacity for U.S. defense. Amprius plans to convert an existing electric vehicle battery line to make high-energy-density pouch cells for unmanned aircraft. The company forecasts annual capacity of 12 million cells by early 2028, but gave no figure for energy output in megawatt-hours or contracted deliveries. Amprius says its approximately US$100 million cost estimate includes in-kind investment from both it and its manufacturing partner. The release does not break out either party's cash contribution or set a payment schedule. As of Sept. 28, the company says a majority of the federal award remains unfunded and depends on future appropriations; payments also require the U.S. government to accept specified milestones. The grant depends on accepted milestones. The South Korean partner's U.S. line already makes electric vehicle batteries, but Amprius did not identify its operator or location in the Sept. 28 announcement. It did not give a retrofit schedule, a first shipment date or lead times for the equipment needed to convert the line. Its early 2028 completion target is therefore the only dated production milestone in that release. The company says the cells are intended to meet National Defense Authorization Act domestic sourcing requirements for Group 1, 2 and 3 drones. The Sept. 28 release names no customer order attached to the converted line, so the 12 million cells a year expected by early 2028 is proposed manufacturing capacity rather than booked deliveries. "This DoW grant is intended to establish a primary source of domestic, NDAA-compliant battery production," Amprius chief executive Tom Stepien said in the release. Amprius has sought federal support for U.S. cell production before. In June 2023, it and the Department of Energy ended negotiations on a US$50 million cost-sharing grant for a proposed factory in Brighton, Colorado. That earlier plan called for an initial 500-megawatt-hour phase, then expected to operate by 2025. It differed from the new approach of retrofitting a partner's existing line. Amprius did not disclose payment dates in its Sept. 28 announcement, leaving the size and timing of federal support conditional on appropriations and accepted milestones. Amprius's next dated production milestone is its early 2028 target for completion of the 12 million-cell annual line.
