Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- An OCT-C (Certified Optical Coherence Tomography) or CRA (Certified Retinal Angiographer) certification is required.
- Two years of relevant experience are required.
- Intermediate knowledge of ocular anatomy, function, and motility is required.
- Basic comprehension of refractometry is required.
- Knowledge of computer software for all imaging modalities is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
- The ability to perform standardized imaging protocols based on diagnosis is required.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively is required.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic testing, including color fundus photography, fluorescein angiography, ICG (Indocyanine Green) angiography, optical coherence tomography, automated perimetry, slit lamp photography, external photography, and ocular motility photography.
- Perform supervised ocular diagnostic testing with specialty-specific imaging instruments, document procedures, and upload images into the electronic medical record and PACS platform.
- Provide patient-centric care and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Follow patient safety, hand hygiene, and infection control best practices.
- Complete mandatory in-services and online training.
- Attend assigned educational courses for ophthalmic personnel.
- Ensure equipment is calibrated and instrumentation is in proper working order.
- Participate in assigned clinical research and maintain required certifications.
- Organize and stock rooms for daily clinical activities.
- Travel to satellite eye centers when necessary.
- Work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Maintain OPS certifications.
- Assist with training visiting imaging technicians, residents, fellows, and faculty members.
- Work with providers, residents, and fellows to provide training and customization of imaging software, including hanging protocols.
- Act as a preceptor for imaging team members.
- Act as a super user for imaging technology implementations and training initiatives.
- Support residents, fellows, and faculty members with imaging presentations.
- Perform ocular diagnostic examinations using specialty-specific imaging instruments under anesthesia in the operating room.
