About the job
- Successfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements and meet the Association’s policies on background screening.
- Adhere to the drug-, alcohol-, and smoke-free workplace policy.
- Understand gymnastics liability and safety issues.
- Know and understand gymnastics instructional skills and progressions.
- Know and understand YMCA of the USA gymnastics guidelines, policies, and recommendations.
- Complete required Level 2 background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.
- Hold CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Complete YMCA Blood Borne Pathogens Training.
- Complete the YMCA Child Sexual Abuse Prevention class.
- Meet staff safety requirements and cleaning protocols.
- Complete additional training classes as recommended by the supervisor.
- Be able to sit, kneel, or stand for extended periods, reach, and move around the work environment.
- Perform dance movements relevant to the classes.
- Lift 40 pounds and bend, reach, and kneel to execute routines or use equipment.
- Plan, teach, and document gymnastics lessons and daily sessions.
- Teach Saturday morning parent-and-tot and pre-gym classes.
- Supervise open-gym time.
- Maintain the gymnastics center in a safe condition and report safety issues to the director.
- Perform pre-session and post-session cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings.
- Write a report for any injuries or accidents occurring while on duty.
- Supervise birthday parties according to the guidelines in the manual.
- Uphold staff safety requirements, including department cleaning protocols throughout the day.
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
