About the Job

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in public relations, corporate communications, public affairs, or crisis communications, including substantial hands-on ownership of sensitive issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage a significant reputational incident and explain decisions, personal contribution, and outcomes using non-confidential examples.
  • Practical U.S. government relations experience and established, relevant stakeholder relationships; understand professional engagement with government offices and regulators and work effectively with Legal.
  • Professional fluency in both English and Mandarin, excellent English writing, and ability to draft and review Simplified Chinese crisis communications.
  • Experience managing reputational issues across multiple social platforms and digital communities; understand English- and Chinese-language audience behavior, platform dynamics, creator influence, and story spread between social media, reviews, and news coverage.
  • Strong news judgment, discretion, and evidence-based decision-making; ability to prioritize quickly, write clearly under pressure, and personally drive execution across teams.
  • Availability for time-sensitive incident response outside regular business hours when necessary, and occasional travel for stakeholder meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain credible relationships with relevant U.S. government offices, regulators, industry associations, chambers of commerce, and community organizations.
  • Track policy and public affairs issues affecting delivery platforms and prepare briefings, meetings, and responses with leadership and Legal.
  • Independently lead responses to negative coverage, allegations, viral complaints, service or safety incidents, and other reputational risks; verify facts, assess severity, recommend response timing and channels, prepare action plans, and personally drive execution, escalation, and follow-up.
  • Own monitoring and response coordination across major English- and Chinese-language channels, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, Reddit, Xiaohongshu/RED, WeChat, Weibo, and Douyin, as relevant to U.S. audiences; monitor community forums, Google and Yelp reviews, app store ratings, and digital news; map cross-platform spread, identify influential voices, and prioritize risks by credibility, reach, and business impact.
  • Personally draft statements, press materials, media Q&As, executive talking points, social responses, and stakeholder updates in English and Chinese; adapt messaging to each platform while maintaining factual consistency, address legitimate concerns, correct misinformation with evidence, coordinate reports of policy-violating content, and align public comments, direct outreach, and official communications with Customer Service and Legal.
  • Develop relationships with U.S. mainstream, local, industry, and Chinese-language media, journalists, creators, and community stakeholders; handle sensitive inquiries and prepare spokespeople.
  • Identify credible stories about merchants, delivery partners, and community impact, and execute communications that strengthen trust before and after a crisis.
  • Lead communications workstreams with Legal, Operations, Customer Service, Marketing, and leadership to investigate issues, align messages, and support corrective action; coordinate external agencies and advisers when needed, track owners and deadlines, and ensure follow-through until issues are resolved.
  • Establish monitoring alerts, escalation procedures, crisis playbooks, and platform-specific response guidelines.
  • Use social listening and media data to assess sentiment, spread, message accuracy, and response effectiveness; brief leadership on emerging risks and document lessons and corrective actions after incidents.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in delivery platforms, marketplaces, consumer technology, food and beverage, or other businesses facing public and regulatory scrutiny.
  • Relevant government and media networks in New York or Washington, D.C.; experience in cross-border communications, crisis-focused PR agencies, or social listening platforms such as Meltwater, Brandwatch, Talkwalker, or equivalent tools.
