Requirements
  • Significant demonstrated expertise executing DOE Order 425.1D for verification of readiness to start up or restart nuclear facilities.
  • Experience in key positions supporting readiness verification and safe operation of complex, high-risk nuclear facilities.
  • Executive experience interfacing directly with senior management.
  • Expert knowledge of Department of Energy orders, standards, policies, and procedures governing safe nuclear-facility startup.
  • Knowledge of the Hanford Site mission, activities, and priorities.
  • At least five consecutive years of employment in a position with comparable responsibilities within the past five years.
  • Ability to use a computer for email communication.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and related tools.
  • Ability to complete required quality-assurance, background-investigative, facility-access, and clearance requirements, including eligibility for up to a Top Secret or DOE Q clearance.
  • United States citizenship.
  • Ability to complete a Financial Disclosure Statement if required.
Responsibilities
  • Plan strategic activities required for ORP to achieve and verify readiness for radioactive operations.
  • Mentor ORP staff and management in activities required to achieve and verify readiness for safe nuclear operations.
  • Provide professional counsel on developing and implementing a readiness program from Line Management’s perspective.
  • Provide expert advice and counsel on improvements to ORP’s readiness program.
  • Promote coordination among all relevant readiness-related functions to support safe nuclear operations.
  • Develop and revise the Certification and Verification Plan.
  • Mentor ORP core-requirement and functional leads in developing and executing core-requirement oversight strategies.
  • Provide expert strategic guidance in Line Management Review Board activities.
  • Develop and implement training curricula for ORP staff to achieve line-management readiness and verify contractor readiness.
  • Complete deliverables in accordance with the COD Director’s directions.
  • Process deliverables through the COD Project Lead before internal or external publication.
  • Perform work products thoroughly, accurately, and with appropriate documentation in compliance with established criteria and delivery schedules.
  • Maintain proficiencies in HGET and WTP site access through periodic training.
  • Travel occasionally for meetings, events, site visits, or training when approved in accordance with Federal Travel Regulations.
