Responsibilities
  • Establish and manage an effective Executive Office for the Payments organisation.
  • Support the Chief Payments Officer in managing priorities, commitments, decisions and leadership engagement activities.
  • Coordinate leadership team meetings, offsites, governance forums and operating reviews.
  • Ensure actions, decisions and commitments are tracked through to completion.
  • Drive effective planning and organisation of leadership activities and business priorities.
  • Support the preparation of materials for Executive Committee, Board and senior management forums.
  • Develop high-quality presentations, briefing papers and leadership communications.
  • Support internal communications and employee engagement initiatives across the Payments organisation.
  • Coordinate leadership messaging and organisational updates.
  • Ensure senior stakeholder communications are clear, timely and aligned.
  • Partner with Corporate Communications and other teams where required.
  • Support planning cycles, team objectives and organisational priorities.
  • Coordinate key deliverables and milestones across the Payments leadership team.
  • Assist in monitoring progress against objectives and commitments.
  • Identify opportunities to improve governance, processes and ways of working.
  • Help establish a strong operating culture within the Payments function.
  • Lead and coordinate ad hoc projects and leadership initiatives on behalf of the Chief Payments Officer.
  • Conduct research, analysis and briefing preparation to support decision-making.
  • Provide additional support on high-priority business matters as required.
  • Manage a business function and contribute to function-wide strategic initiatives, policy and procedure development, and multiple complex strategic projects.
  • Manage the direction of a large team or sub-function, or lead organisation-wide projects as an individual contributor, while training, guiding and coaching less experienced specialists.
  • Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions outside the function.
  • Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
  • Escalate policy and procedure breaches appropriately.
  • Foster compliance and ensure regulations are observed through relevant adherence processes.
  • Monitor and influence the external environment, regulators or advocacy groups on behalf of Barclays when appropriate.
  • Use advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in complex or sensitive situations.
  • Exercise management authority to make significant and strategic decisions or recommendations within the area.
  • Negotiate with and influence senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Act as the principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions or business divisions.

  • Experience within Payments, Corporate Banking, Transaction Banking or a related financial services environment.

Apex secures $589M financing for 150MW Illinois solar project

Apex Clean Energy has secured $589 million in financing for its 150MW Spring Creek solar project in Macon County, Illinois. Helaba and KeyBank provided $352.1 million in construction and term loan financing, including a $226.3 million bridge loan due January 2028, a $103.8 million term loan, and a $22 million standby letter of credit, both due August 2031. Barclays provided the tax equity commitment, marking its first project-level deal with Apex after years of corporate-level financing. The project will add solar capacity to the MISO grid and represents Apex's sixth solar facility in Illinois. The company's Illinois projects total $3.5 billion in investment for facilities either operational or under construction.

Barclays appoints Wee Yee-Yeong to head private bank in Singapore and Asia

Barclays has appointed Wee Yee-Yeong as head of private bank for Singapore and Asia, effective later this year. He will oversee private banking operations in Singapore and lead regional strategy for international Asian clients. Yee-Yeong joins from Morgan Stanley, where he serves as chief executive and head of sales for Singapore wealth management. He brings over 20 years of wealth management experience, having held senior positions at Bank of Singapore, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, UBS Wealth Management, and Merrill Lynch. He will replace Alexander Harrison, who served as interim head. The appointment follows Barclays' launch of its Singapore booking centre earlier this month, marking a key step in the bank's Asia Pacific growth strategy.

Form Energy closes $270M credit facility to scale iron-air battery production

Form Energy has closed a $270 million credit facility to support its energy storage technology development. The facility comprises a revolving credit facility and a tax credit advance facility linked to Section 45X Advanced Manufacturing Production Credit. An accordion feature allows the facility to expand to $1 billion. Barclays served as sole structuring bank, with Citi, Jefferies, JPMorgan Chase, RBC Capital Markets, Societe Generale, Stifel, and Wells Fargo participating in the lending syndicate. The financing follows Form Energy's $750 million Series G funding round in August, bringing total equity raised to over $2 billion. Proceeds will fund manufacturing scale-up and working capital as the company produces iron-air battery systems at its Weirton, West Virginia facility.
