Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or two to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A valid driver's license and insurance are required.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties satisfactorily, including the stated physical demands and lifting requirements.
  • Functional and technical accounting knowledge and skills sufficient to perform the job at a high level.
  • Ability to provide professional verbal and written communication and customer service to internal and external customers.
Responsibilities
  • Post rent collections, corrections, adjustments, and security deposit payments in the accounting software.
  • Review tenant activity in the accounting software for accuracy.
  • Communicate with Site Managers regarding tenant ledgers, payment status, and account discrepancies.
  • Investigate and resolve short payments, unapplied cash, and invoice disputes.
  • Reconcile tenant ledgers, including both the HAP and Tenant Side of each ledger, to maintain accurate receivable records for each property.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll, including checking cash balances for available funds.
  • Download miscellaneous bank statements.
  • Research bank and payroll journal entries for others.
  • Process security deposit dispositions and move-out packets, including reviewing required documents.
  • Set up bank transfers.
  • Prepare and post various journal entries.
  • Reconcile bank accounts.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual accounting reports.
  • Train and assist new accounting employees.
  • Provide training to new hires on accounting software during new-hire orientation.
  • Support compliance, portfolio managers, and upper management with challenging issues involving HUD and/or RD subsidies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
