Surprise! Aspyr is remastering A Shrek game.

Surprise! Aspyr is remastering A Shrek game. [Insert funny Shrek joke here] Aspyr Media, the team behind the recent Lord of the Rings and Middle-earth ports for Nintendo platforms, has apparently got a remaster of Shrek 2 in the pipeline. This announcement has seemingly been leaked ahead of schedule via an official Xbox Store listing. A GTA 6-style promotional trailer has also surfaced online. This action-adventure game was originally released in 2004 on multiple platforms including the GameCube. The Game Boy Advance also got its own version. As for this remaster, according to the now-removed store listing, it will apparently include improved graphics, new features, and up to four-player co-op (local and online). A release window hasn't been revealed just yet, and the only platform Shrek 2 Remastered is confirmed for at the moment is Xbox, but Aspyr usually releases these retro games on all modern platforms. It's believed the official reveal could take place next week during the ID@Xbox Showcase, as Shrek features in the teaser trailer. The same company previously helped out with the original Mac port. (Image via Aspyr, Limited Run Games) Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration is getting a physical release on Nintendo Switch 2, giving collectors another opportunity to own Lara Croft's Siberian adventure on a physical Game Card. Limited Run Games and Aspyr have announced Standard and Collector's Editions, with pre-orders scheduled to open October 9, 2026. The physical release follows the game's digital launch on Switch 2 in June. Unlike releases that package a download code inside a box, Limited Run Games confirms that this version includes a physical Game Card. The release is also region-free, according to Limited Run Games. Two physical editions are coming. The Standard Edition contains the physical game, while the Collector's Edition adds several items aimed at Tomb Raider fans. The more expensive package includes a steelcase, Trinity patch, and a light-up replica of the Divine Source, an important artifact from Lara's adventure. Pre-orders will remain open until November 15, 2026, according to Limited Run Games' current product listing. The company describes the release as an open pre-order rather than a purchase with a fixed stock limit. The Switch 2 version is based on Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration, meaning buyers receive substantially more than the original campaign. The package includes the Season Pass content, including Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch, Cold Darkness Awakened, Blood Ties, Lara's Nightmare, Endurance Mode, and Co-op Endurance. Stay in the Loop Additional extras include eight DLC outfits, seven DLC weapons, 35 Expansion Cards, Extreme Survivor difficulty, five classic Lara Croft skins, and the TR III Reimagined Antarctica outfit. The game follows Lara as she travels through Siberia in search of the lost city of Kitezh and the Divine Source while facing Trinity forces and dangerous environmental challenges. Its arrival as a physical Switch 2 release gives fans who skipped the digital version a new way to add the second entry in the Survivor trilogy to their collection. The Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration physical editions will open for pre-order on October 9 through Limited Run Games. 3 PS5 action game remasters get fan-requested features.

3 PS5 action game remasters get fan-requested features. August 21, 2026 Three remasters of legendary PlayStation games on PS5 have received much-requested features from fans. Aspyr has released a new update for Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, adding quality-of-life features that will help players get through Lara Croft's earliest adventures. The collection was first released on PS5 and other platforms in 2024. At launch, Tomb Raider I-III received mostly positive reviews, though critics noted some performance issues in the classic graphics mode. At the time, players using Classic Graphics Mode were limited to 30 frames per second. The PC version also had issues with uneven frame pacing, while its alternative modern control scheme drew criticism. What bugs have been fixed in the Tomb Raider I-III Remastered update? The latest update for Tomb Raider I-III Remastered adds the following fixes (via Aspyr): * Brightness Slider: Players can now change the brightness of any level across all 3 games, and it works best in HD Graphics Mode. * 60 FPS in Classic Graphics Mode: Framerate has been updated to 60 fps in Classic mode on console. * Pickup Highlight: Key items Lara can pick up are now brighter and more visible in HD Graphics Mode. Besides these, there are plenty of fixes for Challenge Mode, trophies, character models, weapon usage, and visual effects. Other fixes address localization, mission-related bugs, in-game text, and overall stability and performance. Aspyr has also announced that it is working on Patch 4. The future of Lara Croft looks bright, as two new AAA entries are currently in development for consoles. However, fans will have to wait longer than expected to play them. Most recently, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis was delayed to next year, which also pushed Tomb Raider: Catalyst to 2028.
