View

AVP partners with veterinary clinics across the United States, letting veterinarians retain ownership and clinical control while AVP provides operational know-how and shared services across the network. Clinics stay independently owned, and AVP supplies back-office support such as operations, human resources, procurement, IT, and marketing, shared across the network to boost efficiency. This approach preserves veterinarian autonomy, unlike buyers that fully acquire practices, while still delivering scale and best practices from a connected network. The goal is to help independent veterinary practices compete and grow by combining owner-led clinical care with scalable operational support.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Jeffrey Animal Hospital closed in June 2026, extending AVP into Michigan's Detroit market.
  • AVP's 2026 blog restarted after 2025 growth, signaling active internal investment and scaling.
  • Seller autonomy and retained equity attract owners seeking exits without surrendering practice control.

What critics are saying

  • AVP still depends on steady acquisition flow; June 2026 growth came from one transaction.
  • Mars Veterinary Health and NVA outspend AVP on recruiting, technology, and employer branding.
  • If veterinarians reject minority-rollup economics, AVP's model stalls and consolidation economics break.

What makes Associated Veterinary Partners unique

  • AVP is veterinarian-founded and veterinarian-operated, emphasizing clinical autonomy across partner hospitals.
  • AVP structures deals to preserve seller minority equity, unlike full-control corporate rollups.
  • By June 2026, AVP reached 24 hospitals across 13 states through acquisitions.
