Analysts at UBS, RBC Capital and Baird reaffirmed positive views on Planet Fitness this week. They point to stronger member demand, helped by beginner-focused promotions. UBS noted stronger September membership trends and early October momentum tied to the fall promotion, which offers $1 down and $10 per month. Concerns remain that easier cancellations and low-cost rivals could raise churn and limit pricing power. Simply Wall St's narrative projects revenue of $1.7 billion and earnings of $345.5 million by 2029, up from $237.9 million today. That implies 10.1% yearly revenue growth and a fair value of $66.31, 38% above the current price. Lower-ranked analysts are more cautious. They expect earnings of about $288 million by 2029.

Planet Fitness shares surged over 8% on Friday, heading for their best day since November 2025, after UBS maintained its 'Buy' rating with an $80 price target, implying 68% upside. The investment bank highlighted strong membership growth in September and early October, noting the company's fall pricing promotion successfully attracted new members. The promotion allowed new members to join for $1 upfront and $10 monthly through September 10. UBS acknowledged concerns about agentic AI but believes the threat is manageable and unlikely to significantly disrupt Planet Fitness's business. The gym operator expects third-quarter earnings of $0.81 per share and revenue of $348.4 million. Total membership stood at approximately 21.5 million at the end of June. Despite the recent rally, shares remain down over 56% year-to-date.
Planet Fitness operators in Texas sued for illegal videotaping incident. October 7, 2026 The controversies around Planet Fitness continue to pile up as a woman is alleging that she was secretly videotaped at a Planet Fitness location in Frisco, Texas and has filed a lawsuit against the companies that operate the gym. The plaintiff, identified as Jane Doe to protect her privacy, is suing Excel Fitness Holdings, LLC, and Excel Fitness DFW 21, LLC, the owner and operator of the Planet Fitness location at 6951 Preston Road in Frisco, Texas. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff had been a member of the gym for more than seven years and regularly used its tanning facilities. During several of those sessions, while she was undressed inside a private tanning room, the Frisco Police Department said a male Planet Fitness member recorded her without her knowledge or consent. Law enforcement recovered recordings depicting Planet Fitness members in various stages of undress. The lawsuit alleges that the gym operators failed to protect members despite a history of similar incidents involving hidden cameras and secret recordings at Planet Fitness locations across the country. The secret video recording incidents involved more than 55 women in Alabama, California, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri and North Dakota dating back more than a decade. Excel Fitness is accused of failing to implement adequate safeguards against voyeurism and unauthorized recording, properly inspect and secure tanning areas, train employees to recognize suspicious activity and warn members about known or foreseeable risks. The women's legal team said claims in the lawsuit include negligence, gross negligence and invasion of privacy. The plaintiff is seeking more than $1 million in monetary relief, including compensatory and punitive damages, and requests a jury trial. The case Jane Doe vs. Excel Fitness Holdings, LLC, and Excel Fitness DFW 21, LLC was filed in the 471st Judicial District Court of Collin County, Texas. The cause number is 471-08184-2026. This case comes to light as a number of proposed class action lawsuits are swirling around the legal world targeting franchisor Planet Fitness, Inc. alleging securities fraud and the years-long fight a number of gym members have undertaken to challenge Planet Fitness' enforcement of its non-discrimination policy allowing members to use locker rooms and facilities that match their self-reported gender identity.
