Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in transportation or transit project delivery
  • Demonstrated experience managing transportation or transit projects for public agencies
  • Strong understanding of project management fundamentals, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, and quality management
  • Proven ability to build and maintain positive client relationships. An established network of client relationships with LA Metro and other local and regional transit agencies is a requirement
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to clients and stakeholders
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Possession or ability to obtain Professional Engineer license in California (preferred but not mandatory)

Responsibilities
  • Perform project management duties on transit and transportation projects, including client and subconsultant coordination, schedule and budget management, and quality control
  • Serve as the primary client contact on assigned projects, ensuring client needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Lead and be responsible for the preparation and delivery of technical documents, including engineering drawings, reports, cost estimates, specifications, and construction support deliverables
  • Maintain project budgets, establish cost controls, manage project schedules, and support monthly billing and forecasting
  • Organize, coordinate, and supervise the work of multidisciplinary technical teams, guiding projects to successful completion
  • Ensure projects meet applicable agency standards and requirements and adhere to Stantec’s QA/QC and Project Management frameworks
  • Coordinate with internal peer reviewers and discipline leads to ensure technical excellence and consistency
  • Liaise with public agencies, stakeholders, and partners to support project approvals, permits, and successful delivery
  • Support account management efforts for LA Metro and other Southern California transit agencies, aligned with Win, Do, Manage, and Grow pillars
  • Contribute to the development and execution of account plans, including client engagement strategies, pursuit planning, and relationship management
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with client project managers, technical staff, and leadership within California transit agencies
  • Participate in regular account team meetings and coordination efforts to align project delivery and growth strategies
  • Support proposal and pursuit activities, including scope development, fee estimates, schedules, and client interviews
  • Identify opportunities for cross-discipline collaboration within the Transportation practice to better serve transit clients
  • Track and support active and future opportunities within existing on-call contracts and upcoming transit programs
  • Maintain awareness of client priorities, capital programs, and procurement approaches relevant to California transit agencies
  • Establish, nurture, and support collaborative project delivery processes across disciplines
  • Coach and mentor project team members to support professional development and high-quality delivery
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Work in a manner that protects the health and safety of Stantec employees, clients, and the public by following company HSSE policies

Stantec to lead engineering in Horseshoe Bay terminal redevelopment for BC Ferries. The West Vancouver facility handles nearly seven million travellers annually and has been in operation for more than 65 years By Alex Smith | 29 May 2026 BC Ferries has appointed Stantec as prime consultant for the phased redevelopment of its Horseshoe Bay terminal in West Vancouver. The programme, expected to last approximately nine years, will modernise aging infrastructure at a terminal that has been in operation for over 65 years and serves close to seven million travellers annually. Planned works include marine structures, upland civil improvements and upgraded multimodal transport connections, with operations to remain active throughout construction. The redevelopment aims to improve on-time performance, enhance passenger comfort and support the long-term reliability of services connecting coastal and island communities across British Columbia. Stantec will work alongside Mott MacDonald and Westmar Advisors under a construction manager at risk model, in which the construction manager joins the project team during the design phase and commits to a guaranteed maximum price before works begin. Its scope covers permitting and multidisciplinary engineering coordination across structural, environmental, electrical, mechanical, geotechnical and civil marine disciplines, as well as constructability reviews. Work will be delivered through a series of call-up assignments under a master services agreement. According to Stantec, the terminal's location presents particular logistical challenges. The facility is situated next to a constrained coastal environment adjacent to an active community and marina, and ferry operations will need to continue uninterrupted throughout the redevelopment. "This is one of the significant infrastructure upgrades in the Lower Mainland," said Kip Skabar, senior principal and Canada ports sector leader at Stantec. "We're proud to be a long-term partner to BC Ferries and to manage a complex program to deliver a world-class ferry facility."

City Engineer Thomas Morneau. Morneau said the objective of the federal grant is to prepare a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan that will identify high-risk corridors and intersections, address systemic safety issues for all modes of transportation, incorporate community input, and establish a framework for future implementation actions.
