Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, disconnect, and troubleshoot television, high-speed internet, telephony, and automation systems for residential and business clients.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repair of Hybrid Fiber Coax and Fiber to the Home networks, including associated equipment, according to company engineering standards.
  • Read and accurately interpret system and network design maps.
  • Install and replace Hybrid Fiber Coax physical-plant network components, including coax, active and passive components, grounding systems, pedestals, riser guards, and conduit, according to technical specifications.
  • Identify and repair upstream and downstream ingress.
  • Complete end-of-line network testing to meet technical specifications.
  • Test Hybrid Fiber Coax network components using signal level meters, volt-ohm meters, leakage detectors, Time Domain Reflectometers, and Optical Time Domain Reflectometers.
  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot, and update records for standby power supplies according to technical specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and repair basic distribution problems involving radio-frequency, alternating-current, and direct-current elements of the forward and reverse plant.
  • Restore system service outages.
  • Perform CLI rideouts and monitor and repair signal leakages.
  • Maintain tools and equipment inventory.
  • Complete work orders accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain, secure, and stock the assigned vehicle and equipment.
  • Track productivity through company applications such as NRBY, WFX, Stratusync, and iGlass.
  • Work alongside Headend personnel to perform Optical Time Domain Reflectometry on damaged fiber.
  • Assist with projects such as Remote PHY, 5–85 MHz work, node activation, and end-to-end testing on new properties.
  • Prepare for daily assignments by requisitioning equipment and supplies from the warehouse and stocking the vehicle as needed.
  • Maintain the company truck and other equipment according to service requirements and safety guidelines.
  • Drive a company vehicle safely and courteously between the office or home, warehouse, and work sites in accordance with laws and company policies.
  • Communicate with dispatch through WFX, phone, and other channels for assistance, installation status, or new service requests.
  • Consult with supervisors and other technicians for advice and assistance as needed.
  • Interact professionally and courteously with customers, including when responding to escalations and repeated concerns.
  • Educate customers about existing and new services and promote other company services.
  • Comply with all safety procedures and policies.
Desired Qualifications
  • A high school degree or GED equivalent is preferred; post-high-school education is a plus.
  • Spanish proficiency is desirable in some locations.

Cogeco takes $1.3B impairment charge amid US market pressures, generates $450M free cash flow

Cogeco Inc reported free cash flow of $169 million for Q3, bringing its cumulative total to $450 million after three quarters. The Canadian segment showed strong performance with positive year-on-year adjusted EBITDA growth for the third consecutive quarter. However, the company took a significant noncash impairment charge of CAD1.8 billion (USD1.3 billion) affecting goodwill, driven by competitive pressures in the US market. The US cable sector continues facing turbulence, with management expecting a difficult Q4 and material increase in customer losses. Consolidated debt leverage stood at 3.2 times at quarter end. The company revised its fiscal 2026 current income tax expense assumption to $25 million, down from $40 million. Wireless sales are ahead of plan, whilst the oxio digital business maintains high customer satisfaction rates.
