Requirements
  • Strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction.
  • A master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in chemistry, or a master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in chemistry-related courses, is required for chemistry instruction.
  • A master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in physics, or a master's degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in physics-related courses, is required for physics instruction.
  • A master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution with 18 graduate semester hours in the physical sciences is required for physical science instruction.
  • Faculty without a graduate degree may qualify if they are all but dissertation or have accumulated 45 graduate credit hours in a single program meeting the requirements for the course taught.
  • Faculty with a master's degree in secondary education with a relevant concentration may qualify for 100-level general education courses with 12 graduate and 12 upper-level undergraduate credits in the field.
  • Selected candidates must undergo pre-employment background checks, including a criminal history check.
  • Copies of transcripts may be required at interview, and original hard copies are required at hire.
Responsibilities
  • Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
  • Provide an appropriate syllabus for the courses being taught and follow the provided syllabus content and requirements.
  • Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy and the Adjunct Handbook.
  • Submit requested information within established timelines.
  • Be available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions and provide assistance.
  • Address student concerns and consult with the program coordinator when necessary to resolve issues.
  • Meet all scheduled classes for contracted courses.
  • Use technology such as Canvas and PowerPoint as appropriate.
  • Notify the program or department chair in the event of an emergency absence.
