  • At least 1 year of hands-on patent and/or trademark prosecution experience in a law firm, corporate legal department, university technology-transfer office, or similar professional environment.
  • Experience working with intellectual property deadlines, filings, correspondence, formalities, records, or related prosecution workflows.
  • Excellent written communication.
  • Strong organization and time-management skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Comfort managing multiple active matters and commitments.
  • Sound judgment about when to act, ask, verify, or escalate.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and coordinate U.S., Patent Cooperation Treaty, and foreign patent filings and prosecution documents.
  • Prepare Information Disclosure Statements, declarations, assignments, powers of attorney, and other prosecution formalities.
  • Execute client and foreign-associate reporting workflows.
  • Coordinate correspondence and follow-up with attorneys, clients, foreign associates, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Support patent prosecution, maintenance, and post-filing workflows.
  • Maintain complete and accurate electronic matter files and prosecution records.
  • Work closely with the docket team to ensure deadlines, instructions, filings, reporting, and matter information remain synchronized.
  • Identify inconsistencies, missing information, and potential problems before they become larger problems.
  • Follow matters through completion rather than treating completion of one step as completion of the work.
  • Improve the systems, standard operating procedures, checklists, and workflows supporting client service.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with U.S. patent prosecution, Patent Cooperation Treaty and foreign filings, Information Disclosure Statements, United States Patent and Trademark Office formalities, AppColl or another intellectual property docketing platform, or sophisticated life-sciences portfolios.
