Requirements
  • Basic computer skills, including use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Ability to function independently without close supervision and consistently exercise discretion and sound clinical and professional judgment.
  • Ability to complete and maintain CPR certification.
Responsibilities
  • Take patient histories and obtain vital signs.
  • Perform basic testing and screenings, including vision and hearing tests, urine drug screens, breath alcohol tests, electrocardiograms, and pulmonary function testing.
  • Perform phlebotomy to collect laboratory samples.
  • Complete paperwork and computer work for laboratory tests involving blood, urine, tissue, and culture samples.
  • Administer subcutaneous, intradermal, and intramuscular injections and complete the required documentation.
  • Perform point-of-care testing, including strep, mononucleosis, glucose, influenza, urine pregnancy, urinalysis, and blood glucose testing.
  • Dispense and document medications and other treatment modalities.
  • Use sterile technique and clean and sterilize instruments, including proper use of an autoclave.
  • Schedule and coordinate records for patients receiving ancillary care.
  • Assist providers with examinations and testing, including pelvic examinations, eye and ear irrigations, incision and drainage procedures, and splinting or orthopedic-glass preparation.
  • Perform occupational medicine testing, including urine drug screens, breath alcohol testing, audiograms, and Department of Transportation physicals.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and protect patients' privacy rights under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Ensure equipment is working properly and report malfunctions to the manager.
  • Log completed laboratory procedures and process related paperwork using computer equipment.
  • Conduct patient callbacks, schedule physician and specialist referrals, address pharmacy issues, and provide patient education.
  • Maintain examination rooms, sterilize equipment, and stock medical supplies.
  • Perform duties that support efficient patient flow.
  • Explain accepted and out-of-network insurance coverage and pricing to patients, collect and record payments, and complete registration screens promptly.
  • Travel to care centers within the designated region.
  • Clean and stock the site with other team members.
  • Train other team members.
  • Work at least two days per week plus every other weekend, with varying days scheduled 2.5 to 3 weeks in advance.
Desired Qualifications
  • One to two years of previous experience working in a physician practice or clinic setting is preferred.
