Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or a technical field is required, or an associate degree with at least 3 years of experience working as a Quality Engineer is acceptable.
  • Four to seven years of progressive quality experience in a regulated manufacturing environment is required.
  • Proficiency in ISO 9001, AS9100, and ISO 13485 requirements and internal and external audit protocols is required.
  • Strong experience with Corrective and Preventive Action, Material Review Board, Return Material Authorization, and Quality Management System documentation is required.
  • The candidate must be able to lead quality improvement initiatives and manage small to medium cross-functional projects.
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, control plans, Design of Experiments, Measurement System Analysis, and root cause analysis tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, and 8D is required.
  • Experience leading internal, supplier, and customer audits is required.
  • The candidate must be able to travel up to 25% as needed.
  • The candidate must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required.
Responsibilities
  • Own and drive cross-functional root cause investigations, manage high-impact Corrective and Preventive Actions, and oversee problem-solving teams using methods such as 8D and DMAIC.
  • Execute, administer, and continuously improve the Quality Management System to ensure ongoing compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, and ISO 13485.
  • Own key Quality Management System subsystems, including document control, calibration, the audit program, and supplier quality, and ensure compliance and continual improvement.
  • Execute the internal audit program and train and mentor internal auditors.
  • Develop and deploy Quality Plans, Control Plans, and Process Validation protocols in collaboration with engineering and production.
  • Lead the First Article Inspection and Production Part Approval Process for new product introduction and major engineering changes.
  • Participate in and support the Return Material Authorization process by evaluating, documenting, and resolving returned products.
  • Conduct supplier assessments and manage supplier corrective action processes.
  • Analyze complex quality performance metrics, create executive-level summaries and dashboards, and present trends and actions at management reviews.
  • Support and at times lead customer quality interactions, including audits, data requests, and issue resolution.
  • Manage assigned quality projects with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy.
  • Mentor Quality Engineer I staff and Inspectors by providing technical guidance and coaching on quality engineering principles and tools.
  • Drive the use of advanced quality tools such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Statistical Process Control, Measurement System Analysis, and risk management techniques across projects and processes.
  • Lead or support internal training on Quality Management System procedures, standards, and quality tools.
Desired Qualifications
  • Lean or Six Sigma Greenbelt certification is desired.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certification is preferred, or the candidate should be able to achieve it within one year.
