  • Hands-on experience building CI/CD systems, internal developer portals, or golden paths, with sufficient codebase familiarity to make technical contributions.
  • Ability to read Helm charts, write Kubernetes admission webhooks, and debug GitHub Actions runner issues.
  • Deep experience with Kubernetes-based platforms, including cluster APIs, namespaces, role-based access control, admission control, and deployment patterns.

  • Experience hiring engineers, including experience making at least one hire that provided a significant learning experience.
  • Security-first design experience and practical knowledge of shift-left security.
  • Ability to read Java and Kotlin stack traces and build logs and distinguish configuration issues from code bugs, or willingness to learn JVM technologies.
  • Fluency in English.
Responsibilities
  • Define and lead a new platform engineering team focused on Developer Experience.
  • Build and maintain deployment templates, opinionated continuous integration and continuous delivery patterns on Kubernetes cluster APIs, production-readiness checklists, and onboarding flows.

  • Own hiring, team culture, and the technical bar while building the team from scratch.
  • Use AI-assisted coding tools daily and coach engineers in their use.
  • Remain hands-on with coding, design reviews, and architectural decisions as the team grows.
  • Discover developer friction, write a team charter, interview candidates, and improve problematic internal processes.
  • Deliver a materially improved golden path, launch the Service Registry, measure adoption, and establish the team's roadmap.
  • Own the Service Registry as the canonical source of truth for services running on Kubernetes.
Desired Qualifications
  • Go experience.
  • Fintech or regulated-environment experience, including familiarity with PCI DSS and SOC 2.
  • Experience working with Java or Kotlin and JVM technologies.

What believers are saying

  • Pliant serves over 3,500 European businesses and entered the U.S. market in 2026.
  • The April 2025 $40 million Series B funded North American hiring and onboarding.
  • Thredd's August 2026 launch proves live U.S. demand for Pliant's commercial cards.

What critics are saying

  • Ramp, Brex, Pleo, and Payhawk all attack adjacent spend-management buyers in 2026.
  • Coastal and Visa create partner dependence; any bank or network friction slows U.S. growth.
  • If U.S. onboarding stalls, Pliant remains Europe-centric and loses its expansion narrative.

What makes Pliant unique

  • Pliant launched U.S. commercial credit with Coastal and Visa in 2026.
  • Its API-first CaaS bundles issuance, compliance, settlement, and spend controls.
  • hi.health acquisition in April 2025 widens Pliant into insurance payments.

Thredd and Pliant launch U.S. commercial credit platform with embedded finance and API-driven reconciliation

Thredd has expanded its partnership with Pliant to launch a commercial credit programme in the US market. The collaboration brings Pliant's embedded finance platform, which offers physical and virtual credit cards with built-in reconciliation and spend controls, to American businesses for the first time. The programme is live on the Visa network with bank sponsorship from Coastal, following a soft rollout in late 2025. Pliant's platform combines credit issuance with lending decisioning and reconciliation tools, enabling businesses to manage expenses and reporting through a single solution. Berlin-based Pliant, founded in 2020, previously operated solely in Europe. The company is now expanding its executive leadership team in the US as part of its North American growth plans. The partnership leverages Thredd's API-driven issuer processing platform to enable cross-border expansion.
