Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline is required.
  • A Professional Engineer license is required, or the ability to obtain one within six months.
  • At least five years of professional water or wastewater systems design experience in a professional services environment is required.
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record are required.
  • Technical writing skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing large and small projects.
  • Work within prescribed budgets and monitor project performance weekly.
  • Develop and negotiate scopes, fees, and schedules with sub-consultants under Project Manager guidance.
  • Develop technical solutions for complex projects by applying engineering knowledge and skills.
  • Assist with developing and executing all aspects of project scopes of work.
  • Report project progress, identify work outside the contractual scope, and assist with schedule and budget compliance.
  • Gain project management experience by working closely with Project Managers.
  • Maintain financial performance for tasks or projects under control.
  • Serve as the technical lead for the discipline on complex projects and coordinate technically with other design disciplines and subcontractors or sub-consultants.
  • Manage project budgets and staffing under Project Manager oversight.
  • Supervise and train less experienced staff, provide daily guidance, check work and progress, and provide input for annual reviews.
  • Develop technical approaches, schedules, and fee estimates for proposals on large-scale or complex projects.
  • Maintain discipline quality control by reviewing designs, checking calculations and assumptions, and reviewing the basis of design.
  • Coordinate and attend client meetings, including public hearings, and deliver oral presentations on project deliverables.
  • Lead construction administration tasks, including progress meetings, submittal reviews, meeting agendas and minutes, construction report reviews, payment applications, requests for information, change orders, coordination with Resident Project Representatives, project closeout, and construction schedule tracking.
  • Monitor quality, client satisfaction, project profitability, contract terms, professional liability matters, and potential claims, and report concerns to the Project Manager.
  • Participate in approved external associations and professional conferences, and present or author technical papers.
  • Manage direct reports when assigned, including workload management, time and expense approval, and career path development.
