Requirements
  • High school graduation and/or a technical degree with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in the life sciences industry.
  • Phlebotomy certification or qualification if applicable and required by state law.
  • Intramuscular dose administration and preparation qualification if applicable and required by state law.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Demonstrated ability to use computers, Microsoft Office software, fax machines, copiers, and multi-line telephones.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in English verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and follow written guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt as the daily schedule changes rapidly.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods, communicate in person and by telephone, walk as required, and lift up to 30 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in conducting clinical trials in accordance with the study protocol, Good Clinical Practice, International Council for Harmonisation Guidelines, and company standard operating procedures.
  • Perform venipuncture, capillary puncture, and other fluid collection within the scope of the protocol and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Perform clinical assessments, including vital signs, phlebotomy, and electrocardiograms, under supervision and within the scope of the protocol and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Process, package, and ship laboratory specimens according to the protocol and International Air Transport Association regulations when applicable.
  • Track, order, and maintain laboratory and study-related supplies throughout the clinical trial.
  • Enter source data into sponsor and vendor data portals and resolve basic queries under the direction of the Clinical Research Coordinator.
  • Communicate with coworkers, leadership, study subjects, sponsors, contract research organizations, and vendors under the direction of the Clinical Research Team.
  • Apply good documentation practices when collecting and transferring data to sponsor or contract research organization data-capture systems and resolving queries.
  • Support the informed-consent process, including ensuring initial and ongoing consent of study subjects.
  • Apply basic regulatory documentation requirements to initiate, maintain, and close clinical research trials.
  • Participate in patient-recruiting tasks, including prescreening potential clinical-trial subjects by telephone or in person.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of protected health information and sponsor and company confidential information.
  • Escalate potential patient-safety issues, including adverse events, serious adverse events, and adverse events of special interest, to the Clinical Research Team.
  • Clean, organize, and disinfect patient-care, laboratory, and laboratory-equipment areas as needed.
  • Prepare source-document charts and copy or file medical records and study-related documents as required.
  • Perform front-office duties, including answering phones, scheduling subjects, making reminder calls, and updating patient-tracking systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
