The Vitality Hospital list, explained properly.

The Vitality Hospital list, explained properly. Your hospital list is the biggest hidden lever in a Vitality policy - it decides which hospitals and consultants you can use, whether central London is included, and what you'll pay every month. This guide decodes all three tiers (including Consultant Select's unusually generous ten-consultant choice), walks through the consultant finder step by step, demystifies procedure codes, and shows the renewal saving hiding in plain sight for members outside London. 500+ hospitals Select · Countrywide · London Consultant Select Up to 10 per claim Golden rule Check hospital AND consultant Compare Health Insurance From the Top UK Providers Hospital access is a price lever at every insurer - see how Vitality compares against Bupa, AXA and Aviva for the hospitals near you. Free, about 2 minutes. Bupa · AXA · Aviva · Vitality · WPA · The Exeter Free · Independent · No obligation Quick answer. Vitality offers three hospital options: Consultant Select (guided - Vitality offers up to 10 recognised consultants per claim, the market's most generous guided choice, at the lowest premium), Countrywide (the national network of 500+ leading private hospitals - Spire, Nuffield, Circle, Ramsay and independents - with limited central London access), and London Care (everything, including central London hospitals and NHS private patient units, unlimited). The two rules that prevent every horror story: check the hospital AND the consultant are recognised for your plan before booking (the finder takes two minutes), and get pre-authorisation with the procedure code in writing. And if you're paying for London Care outside London - that's the saving. All of it below. On this page. The three tiers, compared honestly. Vitality's network spans 500+ private hospitals and clinics across the UK | Tier | What you get | Honest take | | Consultant Select | Vitality offers up to 10 recognised consultants per claim; treatment at their hospitals; care arranged via Care Hub | The market's most generous guided option (rivals typically offer 1-3) at the lowest premium - the smart default for most | | Countrywide | Choose your own from 500+ hospitals - Spire, Nuffield Health, Circle, Ramsay, leading independents; limited London (typically 2 consultations) | Full control nationally; the tier to hold if choosing your own consultant matters to you | | London Care | Everything in Countrywide plus all central London hospitals and NHS private patient units; unlimited London consultations | Exactly right for London lives; an expensive ornament for everyone else | One structural truth underneath all three: hospitals and consultants are recognised separately. A hospital being on your list doesn't mean every consultant working there is recognised for your plan - which is why the two-minute check below exists, and why the people who skip it write the complaint posts. Using the consultant finder - step by step. Two minutes in the finder prevents the classic booking mistakes * Log in to the Vitality member area or Care Hub and open the hospital & consultant finder. * Search precisely: postcode plus the exact site name - "Spire Manchester", not just "Spire" - because groups have multiple sites and recognition differs between them. * Check both halves: the hospital for your tier, then the named consultant separately. Results are plan-specific - the same search answers differently for Consultant Select and London Care members. * Pre-authorise in writing before anything is booked - reference number and procedure code together. * Prefer humans? The Member Care team does the matching by phone, and Consultant Select members can simply request care through Care Hub and have the shortlist arrive. Referrals feed this machine: Vitality works on open referrals from a GP - including their own Vitality GP video service (appointments within 48 hours), which can refer you straight in. For some conditions, Direct Access skips the GP entirely. The full claims journey lives in how to claim with Vitality. Compare Health Insurance From the UK's Leading Insurers Want your local hospital guaranteed? See how the insurers compare on access, tiers and price - side by side, free. Bupa · AXA · Aviva · Vitality · WPA · The Exeter Free · Independent · No obligation Procedure codes & the shortfall trap. Every UK private procedure carries a standardised CCSD code - W3712 is a hip replacement - and Vitality's fee schedule defines what it pays for each. You meet these at pre-authorisation, and the mechanics decide whether your claim glides or grinds: Vitality authorises specific codes, so the safe claim is one where the authorised code matches the consultant's booking, and the consultant charges within Vitality's rates (most recognised ones do - but it's one question worth asking aloud). A mismatch or an above-schedule fee is where shortfalls - the gap you pay personally - are born, and they're almost always preventable with the paperwork habit above. The complete picture, for members and for clinicians hunting the schedule itself, lives in its dedicated Vitality procedure codes & fee schedule guide. Outside London? Here's the renewal saving. For most members outside the capital, Countrywide covers every hospital they'd actually use Central London's hospitals are Britain's most expensive, and London Care's premium reflects it - even if you live in Leeds and would never travel for a knee scope. If that's you, dropping to Countrywide (which keeps a couple of London consultations in reserve) or Consultant Select is often the single easiest saving in your whole policy, changing nothing about the care you'd actually receive - provided the finder confirms your local hospitals sit on the lower tier. Changes are simplest at renewal, which is also the moment to check the rest of the policy's dials: its guides to Vitality's outpatient limits and the excess cover the other two big ones, and the regional deep-dive - including every quirk of outside-London access - is in Vitality's hospital list outside London. The hospitals themselves. Who's actually in the network? The names you'd hope: Spire, Nuffield Health, Circle, Ramsay and the leading independents - its guide to how Vitality works with Spire and Nuffield covers the big two relationships in detail, and individual hospitals get the full treatment in guides like Nuffield Parkside. Hunting by city instead? The hospital hubs for London and Manchester map every private hospital in town - Vitality-recognised and otherwise - so you can see what your tier actually buys where you live. How Vitality's access compares. Hospital lists are where insurers genuinely differ, and Vitality's hand is distinctive: the ten-consultant guided choice is the market's most generous, while rivals counter elsewhere - Bupa with its owned clinics, AXA with its own guided pathway economics. The head-to-heads do the arguing properly: Vitality vs Bupa, AXA vs Vitality, and Vitality vs Aviva - with the whole-policy verdict in is Vitality worth it. If the comparison ends with you leaving, switching safely and cancelling Vitality are both covered without drama - and if it ends with you staying, at least the premium will have earned its place. FAQs: Vitality Hospital lists (2026). Which hospitals can I use with Vitality? How do I use the Vitality consultant finder? What are Vitality procedure codes and the fee schedule? Is London Care worth it if I don't live in London? Related guides. Important information. How insurance supports return to play at sports clubs.

How insurance supports return to play at sports clubs. One of the first things on your mind after experiencing a sports-related injury is getting back out on the field to continue doing what you love. Whether you're an amateur playing at weekends or a semi-professional looking to develop your career, private health insurance supports your recovery and helps you to return to play as soon as possible. So, how does sports health insurance work, and what are the benefits of being covered by one of these policies? Return-to-play at sports clubs: The process. Naturally, every injury is unique. How long it takes for an athlete to return depends on the actual diagnosis. At Dragonfly Crowd, its specialist health insurance for athletes, in partnership with Bupa, provides a defined, actionable timeline for returning to the field. With an overall annual injury incidence rate of 5.40 injuries per 100,000 people, insurance is essential for protecting your athletes and ensuring they can continue pursuing their passions. So, how does the process work? Instant Reporting - Report an injury or ongoing issue through your policy provider for instant claim validation. Rapid Diagnostics - Bypass NHS waiting lists with Bupa's network of over 25,000 UK specialists for an accurate diagnosis by an experienced medical professional. Tailored Rehabilitation - Start your rehabilitation as soon as possible with targeted treatments personalised around your needs, including physical and mental health support. Graduated Return - Approximately 34% of people said they experienced long-term issues from their sporting injuries. By following a graduated return-to-play process, your return-to-play strategy does everything possible to prevent recurring injuries and ensure you're 100% fit and ready to go for competitive play. Ultimately, what makes sports injury insurance so effective is that it's built around the individual and ensures you're seen by a medical professional as soon as possible, so that you can begin your treatment and rehabilitation. How important it is to get return to play right for your players/athletes. Optimal return-to-play processes protect the long-term health of players at every level by ensuring they receive the right treatment and rehabilitation pathway for them. It prevents those recurring injuries and restores on-field confidence. Additionally, it usually means less time on the sidelines. Private sports insurance bridges the gap between the vast resources of elite sport and semi-professional and grassroots sports. But what does a successful program look like: * Rapid Diagnosis - Avoid waiting months for an NHS referral to accelerate your treatment time and return to fitness plans. * Balanced Loading - Get the rehabilitation program that avoids over-stressing the body too soon, gradually supporting progression with sports-specific experts. * Mental Readiness - Recovery is as much mental as it is physical. One study found that 23.7% of athletes experienced psychological distress, which is why mental health support is vital to help you return with full confidence in yourself. In other words, a proper return-to-play pathway addresses every physical and mental aspect that could impact your recovery timeline and treatment effectiveness. How health and protection insurance supports players returning to their sport. Dragonfly Crowd is your healthcare intermediary for securing health insurance that supports players across a range of sports. Cover supports athletes in minimising waiting times, preventing those unexpected out-of-pocket medical expenses, and getting players back on the field as soon as possible. Through its exclusive partnership with Bupa, its role as a healthcare intermediary connects you with a healthcare provider that has proven success working with both professional and semi-professional athletes. Likewise, this is coverage provided by specialists in sports medical care and well-being; that matters more than you might think because it means you're getting: * First-class diagnostics, including MRIs and X-rays. * Tailored treatments delivered by sports medicine specialists. * Rapid referrals to experts in your specific type of injury. * Rehabilitation that follows sports industry guidelines, such as in football and rugby. Additionally, Dragonfly Crowd sticks with you to provide independent advice when needed, including how to manage a move to another club if you're in the middle of a transition whilst recovering. Why health insurance is crucial for your sports club. Standard private medical insurance typically excludes injuries sustained in sports, so a dedicated sports club injury insurance policy is critical to providing players with the coverage they need. Investing in this type of health insurance brings tangible benefits to your club, including but not limited to: * Reducing time spent away from the field through specialist-led rehabilitation, thus protecting your depth. * More of your top players on the field at the same time, which can have a direct impact on actual performance. * Ensuring players are less likely to get injured by addressing risk factors that can increase the chances of a previous injury flaring up again. * Non-generic coverage that addresses the unique needs of contact and high-risk sports, including football, rugby and boxing. It's also worth mentioning that an investment in quality coverage is linked to your reputation as a club. You are demonstrating your commitment to player welfare, thus making your team a more attractive destination for your sport's top players and rising talents. When your players spend more time doing what they do best instead of lying on a treatment table, everybody wins; but finding the right policy for you is easier said than done. Turn to a dedicated healthcare intermediary who can support you in finding the best option for your team. Bupa and Cleveland Clinic London launch value-based cardiac care pilot.

Bupa and Cleveland Clinic London launch value-based cardiac care pilot. Bupa UK Insurance and Cleveland Clinic London have launched a value-based healthcare pilot programme focused on enhancing outcomes in cardiac care, building on the success of their first initiative in arthroplasty. The pilot follows the strong performance of the first value-based collaboration in arthroplasty between Cleveland Clinic and Bupa, introduced in 2024 where arthroplasty patient-reported outcome scores showed an average improvement of 63% from baseline, with no significant clinical complications observed across the cohort. Building on this, the new programme will focus on improving outcomes for patients undergoing a range of cardiac treatment such as electrophysiology, interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery. As part of the agreement, Bupa and Cleveland Clinic London will continue to offer a no-shortfall guarantee for consultant fees. This aims to ensure that Bupa members will not face unexpected out-of-pocket consultant charges - even when fees exceed their coverage allowance - resulting in a more seamless and predictable care experience. The programme's value-based structure ties Cleveland Clinic's reimbursement to measurable health improvement, encouraging enhanced co-ordination, continuity of care, and long-term patient wellbeing. By moving further away from traditional fee-for-service models, the organisations say they are aiming to promote more effective and efficient care plans for cardiac patients. Bernard Prendergast, chairman of cardiology at Cleveland Clinic London, said: "Cleveland Clinic is recognised globally for its expertise in heart care and its commitment to putting patients first. "Our aim is to deliver high quality and transparent care to every patient. We're pleased to extend our value-based care collaboration into cardiac care, where positive outcomes can extend longevity and improve quality of life." Dr Ravi Lukha, medical director for Bupa UK Insurance, added: "Building on the encouraging results from its arthroplasty pilot, Healthcare & Protection is pleased to extend this approach into the more complex field of cardiac care. "Working with Cleveland Clinic London will help us understand how innovative reimbursement models can support high-quality, patient-centred care, in line with Bupa's purpose of helping people live longer, healthier, happier lives."
