Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Wind Turbine Technician.
  • A valid non-commercial driver's license or commercial driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and follow instructions, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision when given proper instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving at least one concrete variable in standardized situations.
  • Ability to pass a physical examination and drug and alcohol screening.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus for work in close confines.
  • Physical fitness sufficient to free-climb 300 feet multiple times daily while wearing more than 25 pounds of climbing gear and work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to rescue a teammate anywhere in a tower in an emergency.
  • Ability to comply with Personal Fall Arrest System requirements and the maximum weight capacity of 309 pounds, including the individual, tooling, uniform, and personal protective equipment; employees climbing wind turbines may not exceed a personal body weight of 260 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Temporarily serve as the person in charge or team leader for the respective work team and provide leadership and technical direction.
  • Perform routine activities to keep wind turbines operational using basic drawings, schematics, and work procedures.
  • Independently support troubleshooting and repairs for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems at a site.
  • Generate and complete relevant paperwork, including work order cards, checklists, and alternative work procedures.
  • Recognize wind turbine error codes and appropriately report issues.
  • Assist in all areas of site operations.
  • Assist with high-voltage system maintenance and repair.
  • Lead and perform routine preventive and unscheduled maintenance on wind turbines involving mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Lead and perform unscheduled maintenance involving troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Follow company policies, safety standards, and housekeeping practices.
  • Assist with or lead the removal and installation of wind turbine mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components.
