Requirements
  • 10–15 years of service or sales experience in large client group health and welfare products or markets.
  • A successful professional history showing increasing levels of responsibility directly related to the position’s duties.
  • Expert knowledge of the Employee Benefits marketplace, including industry needs, educational and professional development associations, carriers, and broker agencies.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with alternative funding and plan designs.
  • Current technical knowledge and understanding of federal and state employee-benefit legislation.
  • Proficiency with personal computers, Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and use good judgment in addressing and servicing client and team needs.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical matters in non-technical terms and present information clearly, concisely, and accurately in writing and verbally.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve problems and present results clearly and precisely in oral and written form.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
  • A valid, unrestricted California Life and Disability License, with continuing education requirements maintained.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to use a computer keyboard and sit in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a typical interior office environment.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee ongoing client service and business development activities.
  • Provide thought leadership, strategic analysis, and consulting expertise for clients’ total rewards programs.
  • Work on complex client initiatives and provide innovative and effective solutions.
  • Drive client changes by recommending improvements based on changing employee-benefit legislation, suggesting strategies to address client concerns, and resolving discrepancies, errors, or inconsistencies.
  • Independently maintain a minimum $1.5 million–$2 million-plus book of business with limited involvement from the Principal, producer, or Client Service Executive.
  • Identify and develop cross-sell opportunities within the book of business to grow revenue in accordance with office business objectives.
  • Participate in new business presentations and assist producers with consulting on large or complex prospects.
  • Develop strong relationships with C-suite contacts and high-level Centers of Influence.
  • Represent Marsh & McLennan Agency by attending business, carrier, and community events.
  • Serve as a speaker or panelist for professional industry meetings, events, or speaking engagements.
  • Lead client service team members to ensure client expectations and needs are met.
  • Provide oversight of clients’ legal documents, including contracts, plan documents, Summary Plan Descriptions, and Form 5500s.
  • Create an environment oriented toward trust, open communication, and cohesive team effort.
  • Facilitate problem-solving and collaboration when addressing client difficulties.
  • Focus the team on client requirements and familiarize team members with client specifications, work procedures, processes, quality standards, techniques, and tools.
  • Provide business information to support the professional development of the service team and division.
  • Oversee deliverables to ensure they satisfy client requirements, cost, and schedule.
  • Work with the Employee Benefits Division Director to obtain resources, discuss project impediments, and escalate unresolved issues.
  • Maintain account files and documentation in the Agency Management System.
  • Help associates address and resolve concerns involving job duties, performance standards, and relationships with coworkers.
  • Evaluate performance and provide ongoing constructive feedback and coaching regarding goals and the skills needed for success.
  • Act as a team or subject-matter expert and specialized resource.
  • Keep current with industry trends, changing markets, new or evolving specializations, policies, and products.
  • Provide thought leadership to the Employee Health and Benefits department by participating in or leading the evaluation and implementation of new trends, policies, products, and carrier agreements.
  • Work with Human Resources and department personnel to recruit, screen, and interview candidates for team openings.
  • Travel 15%–30%, including one to two overnight trips per year and one to two days per week visiting clients in San Diego County.
  • Work extended hours on occasion to attend networking and industry functions.

Marsh beats Q1 estimates with $7.6B revenue, $3.29 EPS as organic growth hits 5%

Marsh reported Q1 revenue of $7.6 billion, up 7.6% year-over-year, beating the consensus estimate of $7.38 billion by 2.88%. Earnings per share came in at $3.29, compared to $3.06 in the prior-year quarter, surpassing the consensus estimate of $3.21 by 2.46%. Key metrics showed mixed performance against analyst expectations. Consolidated organic revenue growth of 5% exceeded the 3.5% estimate, whilst consulting organic growth of 5% topped the 4.4% forecast. However, Guy Carpenter's organic growth of 2% fell short of the 4.2% estimate. Geographically, Marsh's EMEA division generated $1.21 billion in revenue, up 14.1% year-over-year and beating estimates. Mercer consulting revenue reached $1.66 billion, an 11% increase that surpassed the $1.58 billion consensus.
