Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • At least 4 years of experience in HVAC or plumbing engineering.
  • A Professional Engineer license.
  • Ability to self-direct, work on multiple assignments simultaneously, meet project deliverable dates, and complete other task-driven assignments.
  • Technical proficiency in HVAC and plumbing design according to industry standards, including the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, the American Society of Plumbing Engineers, the International Building Code, and the National Fire Protection Association standards.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the HVAC and plumbing engineer for facilities, pump stations, treatment plants, and drainage structures.
  • Perform design and review calculations prepared by others, seal drawings and reports, understand basic HVAC and plumbing design principles, and sign documents in accordance with state Professional Engineer board sealing regulations and the industry standard of care.
  • Work independently and mentor junior staff.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, client staff, regulatory agencies, and project teams.
  • Participate in business development activities, including engineering scope and fee preparation and proposal preparation.
  • Proactively seek the answers and assistance necessary to perform tasks and meet deadlines within budget.
  • Travel occasionally to client sites.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least 6 years of experience in HVAC or plumbing engineering.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience providing HVAC or plumbing engineering for pump stations and treatment plants.
  • Technical proficiency in client-specific architecture and engineering standards and processes, including federal Unified Facilities Criteria and Unified Facilities Guide Specifications, as well as city and state employment processes.
  • CxA certification and/or experience with commissioning and energy-efficiency services.
