Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing or active enrollment in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program with completion within three years of hire.
  • Two years of recent hospital clinical experience.
  • Leadership experience in the specialty area.
  • An active, unrestricted Arizona registered nurse license or a valid participating compact license.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification.
  • Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses certification within one year of hire.
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support or Emergency Pediatric Care certification.
  • Compliance with applicable hospital, departmental, state, and federal regulations and policies.
  • Maintenance of all required certifications and licenses before expiration.
  • Completion of mandatory company modules and job-specific training within the specified timeframe.
  • Timely and accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, electronic medical record entries, and patient responses.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the design and follow-through of employee orientation addressing individual employee needs.
  • Establish and maintain mutual trust and respect with staff.
  • Promote an environment that motivates, nurtures, and empowers staff while maintaining positive interdepartmental relations.
  • Work with employees to facilitate and achieve skill, educational, and performance goals.
  • Assist staff in developing improvement plans when needed.
  • Delegate tasks and projects to staff and follow up to ensure desired outcomes.
  • Assign monitoring of equipment and supplies.
  • Assess the aptitude of staff seeking charge, mentor, or preceptor roles and assign employees based on their ability to perform those roles.
  • Participate in and lead process-improvement initiatives using organizational tools and resources.
  • Manage the department's quality, as reflected by patient experience, physician satisfaction, and employee engagement measurements.
  • Maintain visibility in the department and provide staff opportunities to interact with a manager during regular work hours.
  • Occasionally take a patient assignment.
  • Participate in creating and sustaining a learning environment supported by evidence-based practice and research.
  • Engage in professional and collegial interactions with peers and students.
  • Collaborate with peers and other healthcare providers and participate in ongoing in-service and educational seminars.
  • Mentor and educate colleagues and students.
  • Provide training for new services, technology, medications, and equipment on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintain and enhance the knowledge and skills required for the unit specialty, management, and leadership.
  • Manage time to accommodate personal education.
  • Report safety-related incidents promptly through the Midas/RDE tool.
  • Attend safety-related training programs and monitor the work environment for safety issues.
  • Ensure others perform work safely.
  • Adhere to regulatory and organizational standards affecting patient care and safety, as well as hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Practice in a safe and cost-effective manner.
  • Stay current with and comply with state and federal regulations, statutes, and company policies affecting the area of responsibility.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree.
  • Chronic Care Management and Care Management experience.
  • Recent hospital experience.
  • Knowledge of Accountable Care Organizations, value-based purchasing, and payer quality incentive programs.
