Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing and graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certification.
  • Basic Life Support Certification.
  • A current and valid nursing license.
  • A minimum of two years of nursing experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures, including sanitation and decontamination.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
Responsibilities
  • Assess assigned patients and evaluate care plans, including documenting nursing care and reporting symptoms, changes in patient condition, and vital signs.
  • Modify patient treatment plans according to patient responses, conditions, and physician orders.
  • Review, evaluate, and report diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions.
  • Consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Prepare patients for and assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Consider patient age and culture during treatments and provide information regarding treatment plans.
  • Provide psychological support to nurture a compassionate environment.
  • Perform appropriate patient tests and safely administer medications within the scope of practice.
  • Administer medications and treatments and maintain accurate related records in accordance with regulatory bodies, policies, procedures, and physician orders.
  • Communicate the plan of care to patients, families, and appropriate team members in a timely manner while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
  • Use available resources to assist with discharge planning.
  • Plan, prioritize, and adjust assignments to accomplish goals and provide patient care, seeking assistance when needed.
  • Safely operate medical equipment.
  • Serve as a preceptor and assist new staff in providing care and acclimating to the healthcare environment and direct patient care role.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
Desired Qualifications
  • Obtain an Oncology Nursing Society/Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy provider card within six months of hire, or already hold the card.
