About the company

Vattenfall is a Swedish state-owned energy company that develops and operates power generation and electricity supply. It primarily builds and runs wind farms and solar parks, and sells the generated electricity to customers across Europe. Its products work by converting natural resources—wind and sunlight—into electrical power at its plants, which is then distributed through the energy grid. Unlike many competitors, Vattenfall is owned by the Swedish government, which shapes its strategy toward publicly accountable, large-scale renewable energy investments. The company differentiates itself through its long-term state ownership and its focus on expanding renewable power across Europe, rather than pursuing a broad mix of private investments. Its goal is to be a leading European renewable energy company by growing wind and solar capacity and transitioning its portfolio away from fossil fuels toward sustainable, low-carbon power.

  • Videberg Kraft’s 2026 state-sharing structure uniquely socializes first-of-a-kind nuclear risk.
