About the job
- A minimum of 2 years of previous experience working with children, such as academic or athletic tutoring, camp counseling, or youth volunteering.
- Yoga teaching or group fitness instructor experience of 1–5 years minimum is required.
- A Child Abuse Clearance and criminal background checks are required.
- The candidate must be knowledgeable about yoga practice, breathing techniques, and relaxation methods.
- The candidate must be able to communicate clearly, concisely, and grammatically in written and oral interactions with children, parents, peers, the leadership team, and the community.
- The candidate must be willing to travel.
- The candidate must be in good physical condition to perform the role's responsibilities, including demonstrating yoga poses and safe movement techniques, and be able to respond to emergencies that may require running and climbing stairs.
- Supervise students and lead age-appropriate yoga instruction while providing a safe and calming environment and serving as a positive role model.
- Create and implement daily yoga sessions tailored to students ages 4 to 18 with varying ability levels.
- Teach fundamental yoga postures, breathing techniques, and mindfulness practices to promote physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
- Supervise groups of students, attending to behavior and group management, health and safety, security, and personal and skill development.
- Ensure the safety of students and team members.
- Organize and prepare daily plans in a fun, creative, and engaging manner.
- Use classroom management skills to lead activities and create an inclusive and encouraging environment.
- Work effectively with fellow Activity Specialists and collaborate on daily responsibilities.
- Follow the Impact Kids Code of Conduct, maintain the Impact Kids look, exhibit company core values, and adhere to company policies.
- A Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.
- Certified Yoga Instructor qualification is preferred.
