Quality Inspection Coordinator
About the job
- Previous experience in a similar role within the metal recycling industry, specifically materials inspection, is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, their properties, and common contaminants or impurities.
- Familiarity with measurement and inspection tools and equipment such as scales, calipers, and magnet testers.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting and moving heavy objects.
- Proficiency using computer systems and software for data entry and record keeping.
- Ability to work in a heavy industrial environment and be exposed to various weather conditions.
- Inspect incoming and outgoing materials to identify grades, quality issues, contaminants, and non-conforming or hazardous materials.
- Ensure materials meet company and customer quality specifications.
- Coordinate the movement, sorting, and proper handling of materials within the yard.
- Complete daily quality and site checks, including pile quality, truck inspections, and overnight loads.
- Communicate quality concerns, downgrades, deductions, and required actions to Operations, Supervisors, and Commercial teams.
- Direct inbound trucks to appropriate yard locations safely and efficiently.
- Support training of Inspection Team members and external teams on quality, procedures, and safety.
- Previous experience in a similar role within the metal recycling industry, specifically in materials inspection.
