Join Nissan’s Advanced Technology Center in Silicon Valley (NATC-SV) and lead the development of innovative Artificial Intelligence solutions for the automotive industry.
As a Senior Research Engineer, you will drive innovation in mobility by leveraging your expertise in one or more of the following AI fields:
- Sequential Decision Making and Recommendation
- Inference of essential context from sensor data, image data, and/or geo-spatial data
- Learning constraints and objectives from demonstrations or feedback
- Multi-modal Generative AI
You will lead research and software development of AI applied to real vehicle prototypes, collaborating with other experts in computer science, robotics, social science, and business to transform the automotive industry.

Expected Achievements
- Take charge of the technical vision for new customer-value concepts enabled by AI, including prototyping, integrations of cutting-edge 3rd party solutions, and demonstration.
- Design and develop prototype solutions that integrate AI capabilities into future generations of the {vehicle, cloud, connected device} ecosystem
- Engineer principled models and methods
- Communicate progress effectively through presentations and reports, demonstrating business transformation potential
- Author patents and publish research in top conferences (AAAI, NeurIPS, IJCAI, etc.)
Requirements
- PhD in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience in industry, with emphasis on practical AI deployment challenges
- 5+ years of relevant project experience involving hands-on Software Engineering deployment
- 3+ years of experience leading project teams
- Solid foundation in Computer Science and Data Management best practices
- In-depth technical knowledge demonstrated in one of the above areas of AI
- Passion for research and development at the edge of human knowledge
Stand Out from the Crowd
- Experience with gesture-based or embodied interaction
- Experience architecting AI solutions for user-activity recognition and/or modeling of mood and emotion.
- Authorship of relevant open-source software following best practices
- Industry experience integrating solutions within larger system architectures
- Track record of publication in top tier venues

$118,077.00 - $254,350.00
