Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree and one year of student-athlete enhancement or community service experience at an NCAA Division I institution, or a high school diploma or equivalent and seven years of such experience.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends during special events as needed.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of standard computer software, including Office Suite and email, and the ability to learn and use software needed for career advising practice, including Salesforce and Canvas.
  • Working knowledge of social media best practices and Canva.
  • Ability and desire to continuously improve and learn leadership and career advising best practices.
  • Ability to implement leadership and career development practices.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students.
  • Ability to organize, plan, and facilitate small- and large-group programming.
  • Ability to ensure athletics and university activities comply with university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations, including completing compliance training and paperwork and reporting potential violations.
Responsibilities
  • Co-coordinate the W.A.V.E. Student-Athlete Enhancement Program and provide opportunities for personal and leadership development.
  • Facilitate collaboration with internal and external stakeholders across the Tulane community.
  • Co-coordinate guest speakers and special events related to leadership, personal and professional development, and student-athlete welfare.
  • Establish metrics and data-collection methods to evaluate program offerings.
  • Co-manage mentorship and leadership programs promoting personal and professional development of student-athletes.
  • Collaborate with appropriate entities to establish branding and promote initiatives through social media.
  • Integrate institutional programming, education, and support into comprehensive student-athlete development and leadership programs.
  • Research and implement best practices in student-athlete enhancement and career and professional development.
  • Provide support and consultation to student-athletes and coaches regarding team building, motivation, communication, conflict resolution, personal accountability, and leadership.
  • Administer career and leadership assessments for student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a communications plan for the leadership certificate program.
  • Provide programming for student-athletes transitioning into or transferring to Tulane University.
  • Provide resources and programming to prepare graduating student-athletes for life and full-time work after athletics.
  • Oversee post-graduate awards and opportunities by assisting student-athletes with applications and candidacy development.
  • Serve as co-advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
  • Create, track, and update individualized plans for student-athletes participating in enhancement and leadership programs.
  • Administer all aspects of the W.A.V.E. Cup.
  • Assist in staff selection and training.
  • Coordinate and facilitate community service projects for student-athletes.
  • Track and report student-athletes' outreach participation in community service projects.
  • Maintain community service records through electronic platforms.
  • Communicate service opportunities to student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
  • Promote student-athlete community engagement through social media and the Tulane Athletics website.
  • Coordinate a summer/fall bridge program to enhance incoming freshman student-athletes' academic preparedness.
  • Implement programming for each student classification.
  • Work with the learning specialist, mental health team, and campus resources to facilitate programming.
  • Develop evaluation metrics and collect data for program analysis and improvement.
  • Coordinate professional and career development programming and initiatives.
  • Coordinate with the Tulane Letterwinners Association, Tulane Alumni House, and Tulane Career Services to develop career-readiness programs and resources, including a student-athlete career fair, networking events, and an alumni mentor program.
  • Create and maintain an employer contact database.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with on-campus career services constituents.
  • Perform other duties as requested or required.

  • Three years of student-athlete enhancement or career development experience at an NCAA Division I institution.
