Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalency.
  • Proficiency with Revit software.
  • Proficiency with Navisworks Manage software.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with the layout of HVAC, piping, or plumbing.
  • A thorough understanding of HVAC, piping, and/or plumbing systems.
  • Understanding of mechanical construction principles and processes.
  • Understanding of building codes.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided drafting software, including Revit, Navisworks Manage, basic AutoCAD, Procore, and Autodesk Fabrication.
  • Analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing technology, computer systems, and software.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Ability to read and understand structural and architectural drawings.
  • Ability to define fabrication breaks for the shop.
  • Completion of a trade-related apprenticeship program where required by union contractual agreements.
Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Lead Detailers and the Virtual Construction Project Manager.
  • Model and coordinate three-dimensional intelligent models within project scope and create required deliverable documents.
  • Use Revit knowledge, building-trade knowledge, and building codes to model, coordinate, and produce shop and fabrication deliverables.
  • Coordinate models with all in-house trades and the external project team under the direction of the Lead Detailer.
  • Perform routine to complex assignments using computer-aided drafting system standards, practices, and techniques.
  • Analyze submittals, sketches, notes, and other input material to determine the best approach for completing drawings.
  • Apply judgment and make decisions that protect U.S. Engineering with respect to drawings and input interpretation.
  • Review detailing-team work with input from the supervisor, Lead Detailer, and other team members to determine accuracy.
  • Develop increased proficiency in system operation and software options to improve productivity.
  • Produce accurate working models to facilitate fabrication and installation of mechanical and plumbing systems.
  • Travel to remote jobsites for meetings, troubleshooting, and constructability reviews.
  • Be on-site for several months during the detailing and coordination phase of a project when required.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Associate's degree in Engineering or Drafting Technology.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD software.
  • Proficiency with Procore software.
  • Experience with layout of HVAC, piping, or plumbing.
  • At least five years of field experience as a pipe fitter, plumber, or sheet metal worker.
  • Understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC, pipefitting, or plumbing.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu.
  • Completion of a trade-related apprenticeship program where required by union contractual agreements.
