About the Job

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of hands-on hardware development experience, including end-to-end ownership of systems shipped at scale.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-reliability designs within tight power, cost, form-factor, and schedule constraints.
  • Deep expertise in low-noise analog and high-speed digital design.
  • Strong grounding in signal and power integrity, high-density interconnect, and electromagnetic interference mitigation techniques.
  • Familiarity with high-volume design-for-manufacturing, reliability testing, and yield optimization.
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and simulation, such as SPICE, and working knowledge of Altium or a similar tool.
  • Experience with signal- and power-integrity simulation tools such as HyperLynx and SiWave, and measurement tools including gigahertz-range oscilloscopes, vector network analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Familiarity with board-level integration of field-programmable gate arrays, microcontrollers, and custom analog application-specific integrated circuits.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop analog and mixed-signal electronics for compact, high-performance hardware modules using transimpedance amplifiers, analog-to-digital converters, precision current sources, and power supplies such as low-dropout regulators and switching regulators.
  • Own designs from concept through production, including schematic capture, component selection, and printed circuit board layout in collaboration with layout engineers.
  • Ensure signal integrity, power integrity, and electromagnetic interference/electromagnetic compatibility compliance across high-speed and noise-sensitive interfaces.
  • Define and execute bring-up, characterization, and validation plans, including design verification testing and engineering validation testing, focusing on robustness, repeatability, and manufacturability.
  • Analyze design trade-offs involving performance, cost, power, and integration complexity within tightly constrained product architectures.
  • Partner with system architects, mechanical engineers, and firmware teams to ensure seamless integration and system-level reliability.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with high-speed analog-to-digital converters, custom analog integrated-circuit interfaces, or photonics-related electronics.
  • Knowledge of flexible and rigid-flex printed circuit board design.
  • Familiarity with Verilog-AMS or mixed-signal modeling.
  • Exposure to Verilog hardware description language or field-programmable gate array development.
  • Experience designing for high-reliability or harsh environments, such as automotive or aerospace.

About the Company

Voyant Photonics

Silicon-photonic LiDAR sensors for autonomous systems

Voyant Photonics makes LiDAR sensors using silicon photonics for compact, affordable, and precise 3D sensing. The sensors emit light and measure reflections to map environments with millimeter accuracy, work in any lighting, and resist interference, while also providing data on position, motion, and material composition. The hardware centers on silicon photonic chips, enabling small form factors and scalable manufacturing, sold directly and through partnerships or licensing to autonomous vehicles, robotics, and industrial automation customers. The company aims to broaden adoption of high-precision LiDAR in dynamic environments and grow its manufacturing and licensing footprint by leveraging integrated silicon photonics to achieve precise sensing at a competitive cost.
