Requirements
  • Prior coaching experience and a proven ability to teach and motivate athletes.
  • A First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain one.
  • Personal commitment to Jesus Christ, an exemplary lifestyle consistent with the school's Christian values, active participation in a local Bible-believing church, and willingness to affirm and abide by the school's Statement of Faith.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with students, faculty, staff, and the community.
  • Knowledge of the sport, coaching strategies, and tactics, with the ability to supervise assistant coaches and volunteers.
  • Ability to organize and effectively monitor multiple student-athletes and activities simultaneously.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during practices, games, and events and demonstrate sport-specific skills, drills, and techniques as needed.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and supplies weighing up to 25–50 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and wind.
Responsibilities
  • Exhibit appropriate and professional conduct during games and practices.
  • Interact respectfully with game officials, opposing coaches, and opposing players.
  • Maintain positive appearance, manners, behavior, and language.
  • Conduct personal life consistently with Northwest Christian Schools' values and expectations.
  • Arrive on time and prepared for all practices and games.
  • Maintain required Washington Interscholastic Activities Association certifications, continuing education clock hours, and current CPR/First Aid training.
  • Attend school, league, district, and state meetings as required.
  • Adhere to school, league, and Washington Interscholastic Activities Association policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Implement Biblically based Enduring Understandings and Essential Questions through regular devotions and teachable moments.
  • Foster unity of purpose among program coaches and support high-caliber instruction.
  • Develop positive mentoring relationships with players and maintain positive relationships with parents.
  • Provide locker room and bus supervision for athletes.
  • Ensure athlete safety during practices and games and handle injury situations appropriately.
  • Work with the Head Coach to fulfill specific team responsibilities.
  • Support the Head Coach in developing spiritual, athletic, and academic goals for the program.
  • Provide positive communication with coaches, players, and parents.
  • Help the Head Coach track, maintain, and store inventory and equipment.
