Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in physical or environmental science.
  • Five to ten years of experience working on environmental projects.
  • A broad understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • A valid state driver’s license and qualification to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Company’s Driving Policy.
  • Ability to pass drug and background screening.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of environmental engineering science and technology, including principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment used in environmental services.
  • Knowledge and understanding of CERCLA, RCRA, NPDES, CWA, OPPA, CAA, and other applicable environmental laws, regulations, executive orders, and agency rules.
  • Ability to identify complex problems, evaluate options, and implement solutions.
  • Ability to use analytical skills, scientific methods, logic, and reasoning to evaluate solutions and approaches.
  • Basic computer skills, specifically using Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs.
  • Effective oral and technical written communication skills to communicate complex information clearly and present information to groups.
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively and cooperatively with management and staff.
  • Organizational and time-management skills, including prioritizing, multitasking, and accurately processing and maintaining data.
  • Ability to manage tasks independently and meet deliverables.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct and oversee site inspections, assessments, investigations, and cleanups in accordance with state and federal regulatory guidelines and project-management direction.
  • Work with environmental technicians and other technical staff on data collection, site inspection and investigation, and evaluation of collected data.
  • Prepare technical evaluations of investigated sites using CERCLA and RCRA guidelines.
  • Provide scientific and technical guidance, support, coordination, and oversight to project staff preparing written project documentation.
  • Review and document processes for obtaining, developing, and updating environmental permits, plans, reports, licenses, and other requirements for environmental compliance and restoration objectives.
  • Review and document environmental technical standards, guidelines, policies, and formal regulations to ensure proposals meet applicable requirements.
  • Prepare charts or graphs from data samples and provide summary information on the environmental relevance of the data.
  • Determine data-collection methods for site surveys and investigations.
  • Support project planning and requests for proposals responses.
  • Manage company resources to ensure proper deliverables.
  • Support junior Environmental Scientist staff.
  • Participate in the company’s safety culture and work safely in a constant state of alertness.
  • Perform other duties as directed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in federal government projects.
  • Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response training with a current eight-hour refresher.
  • Experience with health and safety functions.
