Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or a related field is required.
  • At least 8 years of demonstrable experience in FMLA, leave of absence, Americans with Disabilities Act, and paid time off programs, including program design and management in a large, diverse organization with more than 10,000 employees.
  • Deep expertise in FMLA, the Americans with Disabilities Act, disability programs, federal, state, and local leave requirements, and leave administration protocols is required.
  • Strong project and program management skills are required, including experience managing multiple business leaders and large-scale, cross-functional projects with complex workstreams and dependencies from strategy through implementation.
  • Experience leading vendor evaluations, Requests for Proposal processes, implementation efforts, and ongoing vendor governance is required.
  • Proven experience managing third-party administrators and driving accountability through performance metrics, service-level agreements, and continuous improvement initiatives is required.
  • Strong change management experience is required, including leader engagement, communication planning, training, and adoption support.

Responsibilities
  • Own the strategy, governance, and administration of leave of absence, disability, accommodation, and paid time off programs, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and Team Member needs.
  • Act as policy owner for leave, absence, and time-off policies, enhancing practices to maintain compliance, consistency, and operational effectiveness.
  • Maintain compliance, advise management on required actions, and assess enforcement of policies.
  • Lead the design, implementation, enhancement, and ongoing management of leave of absence programs, ensuring scalable and sustainable solutions.
  • Serve as program lead for complex initiatives by developing project plans, managing timelines, identifying risks and dependencies, and driving successful execution across multiple workstreams.
  • Partner cross-functionally to create and implement program improvements and critical initiatives.
  • Lead vendor strategy and governance activities, including vendor evaluations, Requests for Proposal, implementation planning, contract support, performance management, and ongoing relationship management.
  • Evaluate third-party administrator performance through service-level agreements, metrics, and internal feedback, developing action plans to address gaps and improve outcomes.
  • Lead change management and ongoing improvement efforts associated with scalability, policy updates, process enhancements, technology implementations, and vendor transitions, ensuring effective communication, engagement, education, and adoption.
  • Conduct market evaluations and review program data, including operational metrics, trends, and feedback, to identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, improved service delivery, competitive differentiation, and enhanced Team Member experiences.
  • Develop executive-ready reporting, dashboards, and communications that provide a clear view of program performance, trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to HR partners and business leaders on leave, disability, accommodation, and time-off programs, ensuring consistent application of policies and practices.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, emerging regulations, and market practices, using external benchmarking and insights to inform program strategy and recommendations.

UPS marks anniversary by looking at AI and the human touch. UPS marks nearly 12 decades in business this week. The company is celebrating its history, and also looking at how employees today fit into the corporation's growing use of artificial intelligence. The Sandy Springs-based company held its fifth annual UPS Impact Summit at its corporate headquarters on Wednesday. Artificial intelligence and the role of human ingenuity was the theme. "We're all on the same page with 'Let's put the kindness back in human kind,'" said Kate Gutmann, executive vice president and president of International, Healthcare and Supply Chain Solutions. UPS celebrates its 119th birthday on Aug. 28. Eighteen-year-old Jim Casey took out a $100 loan to launch the business in 1907 with a friend in the basement of a Seattle, Washington bar. Today, UPS has more than 400,000 employees and operates in more than 200 countries and territories, according to the company. UPS CEO Carol Tomé opened the summit, which included company executives and outside speakers discussing technology, trust, workplace culture and social impact. Jenna Lauer, chief commercial officer at The Harris Poll, said trust is essential to building customer loyalty, citing pet supply retailer Chewy, which ranked No. 1 in the 2026 Axios Harris Poll 100. "Literally, all signs point to the fact that they write you handwritten notes," Lauer said. She also said that as a personal touch, Starbucks has returned to writing on cups. "Some of this is back to the basics," she said. During a time when speed seems more valued, simply saying 'thank you' can take a company further with its customers, Lauer added. Author Angus Fletcher, whose latest book is "Primal Intelligence: You Are Smarter Than You Know," was the keynote speaker. In contrast to AI, Fletcher said people bring other abilities to problem-solving including imagining new possibilities and making judgments in uncertain situations. Fletcher said people tend to fall back on approaches that have worked before, but creative breakthroughs come from seeing possibilities outside familiar patterns. He used Vincent van Gogh as an example, saying artists had relied heavily on red, blue and green colors in paintings before van Gogh's use of yellow pushed painting in a new direction with the emergence of modern art. Bala Subramanian, UPS executive vice president & chief digital and technology officer, said 70 percent of UPS employees use AI. Even so, the human connection can ultimately make the difference, added Gutmann. "Weighing in. Being curious. Understanding the possibilities, not the probabilities," Gutmann said. "That's what we do. That's redefining what's possible."

Chewy's annual sales growth of 7.1% over three years lagged peers, with its 29.6% gross margin reflecting weak unit economics. Wall Street forecasts tepid 6.8% growth ahead. C.H. Robinson faces end-market headwinds, with sales declining 2.3% annually over five years. Its 7.5% gross margin trails competitors, whilst diminishing returns on capital suggest profit pools are drying up. Analysts rarely issue sell ratings, often seeking other business from covered companies.
