About the job

Requirements
  • Strong SQL skills, including complex joins, window functions, common table expressions, and performance tuning.
  • Intermediate to advanced DAX skills, including time intelligence, filter context, and iterator functions.
  • Power BI semantic modeling, including star schemas, relationships, and Import versus DirectQuery or Direct Lake trade-offs; report development; and service administration.
  • Ability to translate stakeholder reporting needs into clear, actionable reporting.
  • Ability to own a domain and set priorities with minimal oversight while collaborating across a cross-functional IT team.
  • Comfort handling occasional hands-on Level 1 IT tasks, such as desktop, printer, and peripheral troubleshooting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain Azure Data Factory pipelines that ingest data from multiple POS systems into Microsoft Fabric, including incremental loads, error handling, and data quality checks.
  • Architect and manage the Fabric lakehouse or warehouse across bronze, silver, and gold layers; administer capacity and costs, gateway configuration, workspace security, monitoring, and alerts for pipeline failures and data freshness.
  • Own the database estate end to end, including the on-premises SQL Server footprint supporting in-house applications; manage backups and recovery, patching and upgrades, performance tuning, security and access, and other database needs.
  • Design star schemas and semantic models, and write DAX measures for business metrics such as attendance, admissions revenue, per capita spending, and operational KPIs.
  • Work with business teams to understand their needs and design and build Power BI dashboards for complex or high-visibility use cases; administer Power BI workspaces, refreshes, row-level security, and app distribution.
  • Partner with the Revenue Manager, Finance, and other stakeholders to translate reporting needs into reusable data solutions, and support self-service business intelligence and end-user enablement.
  • Serve as the data and analytics subject-matter expert within the IT team; define data standards and documentation, share knowledge with peers, and evaluate new Fabric capabilities.
  • Handle on-site Level 1 IT tasks, including hardware setup and swaps, printer and peripheral issues, and hands-on troubleshooting, for up to about four hours per week; remote support is handled by the team in Vancouver.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least five years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a combined business intelligence and engineering role, including experience owning pipelines or a data platform end to end.
  • Hands-on Azure Data Factory experience with pipeline design, copy activities, data flows, triggers, and parameterization.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric lakehouse or warehouse, or a strong background in related Microsoft data technologies such as Synapse, Azure SQL, or SQL Server Analysis Services, with willingness to deepen Fabric expertise.
  • SQL Server administration for on-premises workloads, including backup and recovery, patching and upgrades, instance and security configuration, and performance troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with transactional data from ticketing or POS systems.
  • Python or PySpark experience.
  • Experience integrating multiple source systems with differing data models.
  • Experience with attraction and visitor metrics, including attendance and admissions revenue, per capita spending, advance bookings and booking pace, capacity utilization, and yield.
  • Git or other version-control experience.
  • Experience with Fabric Data Activator, notebooks, or real-time analytics.
  • Experience working in a small team while handling multiple responsibilities.
